Stunning Jewish Wedding in the Israeli Desert

Stunning Jewish Wedding in the Israeli Desert

via

It's pretty rare that a couple will describe their wedding as 'festival biblical', but Ellie & Mat are not your average bride and groom.

Their wedding was a beautiful coming together of their friends and family for breathtaking Jewish ceremony and a party in the desert.

And we're so excited to be sharing their ah-may-zing photographs by I Do Studio.

Choosing the atmospheric backdrop of Negev in Israel for their day, the stark, yet stunning setting loaned itself to their bohemian style and the informality they wanted for their wedding.

This isn't one of those real weddings that will give you ideas for centrepieces or seating charts, but it will give you a different kind of inspiration.

From their awesome first look (look out for the shot of Mat's friends leading him out with his eyes closed!) to their goosebump-inducing sunset ceremony, and their frolics in the desert to their party under the stars, every detail of this day feels authentic, well thought out, and the perfect balance of fun and romantic.

The Location

We chose the the desert to celebrate our wedding because it's a place we connect the most in this country. It represents our lot to this land, it is absolutely breathtaking and beautiful. It's a place where we go with our family for the Passover holiday, so we have a connection with it not only as a place of Israel, but also a place where we go with our family, so it has a really really close spot in our hearts. We had the most perfect weather it was not too hot, not too cold, a little bit windy and we had a breathtaking sunset so it went incredible. People were a little bit, let's just say, hesitant to drive three hours to come to a overnight wedding but it ended up being wonderful and I think people understood why we went through trouble of getting there because it was truly unique.

The Ceremonies

I think the Huppah and the Ketubah were the most special parts of the wedding for me. Having our friends and family surrounding us. I was barefoot and we had drums that helped us to walk to the Huppah. It was truly unique I couldn't even imagine it as amazing as it ended up being. I was touched signing the Ketubah with 10 of our closest friend and family, reading it together and this would seem to be very biblical surrounding and that is very cool. So we had this festival biblical but very modern touch to the whole wedding and I think it ended up working flawlessly.

The Party

We tried to break up from the normal Israeli wedding standards and wanted to have kind of a free flowing event, when there is always few things happening at the same time. So if people didn't feel like dancing, they could go to a tent where they could hang out, and for the people who were cold, there was a fire place, so they could go up to the mountain and kind of look at the wedding from it and a dance floor under the stars with a 12 hour dance party. So we tried to create an environment a little bit in a vibe of Burning Man or a festival where people can enjoy doing whatever it is they want to do.

We told you it was special, right? I love how all the guests are dressed in white, and Ellie's beautiful dress with its subtle sequins and breezy feel was just perfect.

And how stunning is the photography - I could stare at these pictures all day!

Thanks so much to I Do Studio, and Ellie & Mat for sharing their beautiful desert wedding with us.

Be inspired by more unique real weddings.
