Save Money by Shopping for Wedding Supplies on Black Friday

Black Friday isn't just the perfect time to upgrade your electronics. It's also a great way to find your wedding supplies for less. Here are a few tips for finding the right deals for your event.

Look for total purchase deals.

Many stores run deals on Black Friday that offer a discount when you spend a certain amount of money for your combined purchases (such as $50 off when you spend more than $200, etc.). This can be a great deal for wedding planning products, because you were planning on spending that money anyway. Just make sure that to really save money you aren't using a credit card-the interest might end up costing you more in the long run.

Save on DIY project supplies.

Don't focus on just the department store deals. Almost every store will offer some sort of Black Friday savings. Check out your hardware or craft supply stores to help you complete some of those DIY projects for less. Particularly if you need a specific tool for your DIY project, such as a paper cutter or new printer, these larger-ticket items are often on sale.

Find the extras you need.

Thumb through the Black Friday ads to see if you can find accessories or shoes for your bridesmaids. Although it is unlikely you would actually find the dresses on sale, most of the "extras" just might be. Don't forget to search for items for him, as well, such as pocket squares and ties.

Re-purpose Christmas decor for your wedding.

Christmas decor items are frequently on sale during Black Friday. Even if you are not throwing a holiday wedding, there are still plenty of ways you can repurpose these decor pieces. Gold and silver mercury glass votives can be used to illuminate your centerpieces, white string lights can give your patio glow, and those sparkly cocktail napkins can be used at the bar.

Find basic details for less.

There are so many popular wedding details that are common enough that they are likely to be on sale. Decor pieces like pillows or area rugs are almost always available for less at department and discount stores on Black Friday. Be sure to look out for fliers from your favorite office supply retailers for things like chalkboards, push pins, Sharpies, and anything else you might need for your welcome and guest book tables.

Prepare for the honeymoon.

Have a few things you need for your honeymoon vacation? Whether it is a neck pillow for the plane or a new set of luggage, Black Friday might save you enough money to get a couple of extra cocktails on the flight.

Fill in your registry at a discount.

If you think it is unlikely that you will get all 16 place settings you've registered for, check with your registry store to see if anything on your list is going on sale. There might be a couple things you intentionally left off your registry because they were too expensive or difficult to ship. See if those big ticket prices have lowered enough so that you two can indulge in a little pre-Christmas shopping for your new home together.
