We have a guest post to share with you today from Chelsea Ellsworth all about winter proposals. Over Christmas and New Year we always see a massive boost in proposals but today Chelsea is encouraging couples to take their partner by surprise and get in there early! Maybe during a walk on a sunny December winter's day or by a bonfire made for two on a beach. Winter is not only a beautiful time of year but also a time when families and friends come together so it really can be the most perfect time to propose.

Outdoor Winter Proposal Ideas....

You've got the ring - well done for using that sneaky ring size chart without your partner noticing - you've asked their parents' permission (they said yes) and you know when you want to pop question...the only issue now is how!

If your partner is a huge fan of all things nature and winter, from the bare trees and frost covered rooftops in the morning then a winter proposal in the great outdoors might just do the trick. Here are a few proposal ideas to consider:

Take a walk....

A brisk winter walk, around their favourite park or nature reserve, wrapped up and hand in hand is romantic but make it a walk to remember by reaching their favourite spot - whether that be a bench or overlooking a lake - and getting down on one knee! It will quickly become a special place the two of you can enjoy and return to when you're feeling romantic.

Light it up....

An impromptu firework display under the stars on a winter's night is a great way to propose. Surprise your partner with a display when they get home from work or in the evening at the weekend and lay out a blanket with some champagne to enjoy once it's all over.

While sipping the bubbly and enjoying the crisp night air, present the ring and ask that all important question!

Head to the beach....

A bonfire on the beach in the midst of winter is a classically romantic setting, seen in the movies and read about in romance novels but is something quite easy to replicate. Check first that the beach you intend on visiting with your partner is okay with fires being lit at night and then create a bonfire together to sit by, as you listen to the calming sounds of the sea.

Take some champagne and before opening the bottle get down on one knee by the warmth of the fire - and then celebrate your partner saying yes straight away! You could even ask your friends and family to join you afterwards to congratulate you with some throwaway BBQs and sparklers and make a party out of it!

Plan a winter proposal in the great outdoors and you should have an engagement story to remember and regale for years to come! Just be sure to wrap up warm and stay safe should you get any pyrotechnics involved.
