Geologists, Jess and Tim, were married in Austin at the Barr Mansion in a gorgeous celebration planned and designed by Westcott Weddings. The team brought in florist Rosehip Flora to bridge the look from vintage to modern with stunning arrangements that incorporating gathered florals, foliage and herbs to create a relaxed vibe. We're loving the personalized touches like the vintage-inspired calligraphy table names featuring the geologic formations of Texas. Jess and Tim hired The Nichols to capture their day in a delightful fresh style that we're thrilled to share with you all today. Enjoy!

What made the wedding special and unique?

Our wedding was special to us because it was centered around a whole weekend of celebrating with our family and friends. Our rehearsal dinner barbecue included all wedding guests and was also celebrating my 30th birthday. Many of the guests were visiting Austin for the first time so we really wanted to showcase the music and the food!

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

My gown was from Anna Campbell, an Australian designer. Blue Bridal in Austin was the only shop that carried her gowns in Texas. I knew I wanted a slightly non-traditional dress that would be easy to move in and provide a flattering silhouette. Once I found a photo of Anna's dresses on Pinterest, I knew I would be wearing one of her dresses. I loved how she used lace with embellishment and how delicate the dresses look.

What were some touches added to make the wedding personal?

Some of the personal touches we added were writing our own vows and naming the tables after geologic formations of Texas. We are both geologists who met at the University of Texas at Austin, and Tim really wanted to incorporate geology into the wedding.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

The most memorable part of the day for us was immediately after the ceremony. We both had huge smiles on our faces and were greeted by our parents in a huge hug. Jennifer captured the memory perfectly in one of our favorite photos!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

We met while students at the University of Texas. Tim was an undergraduate geology student when I was a graduate geology student. Tim crashed a Halloween party for grad students, got my number, and by Thanksgiving we were dating! Tim proposed 2 years later. We had been dating long distance for 9 months between Houston and Austin, and Tim drove down on a Friday after I had been sick for a few days. He managed to get me ready to leave the house by suggesting we go to our favorite restaurant, and while we were about to walk out the door, he got down on one knee. We had a very memorable lunch that Friday!
