Framed by majestic mountain peaks and brimming with lush greenery, Aimée + Jake got married in Alaska... Across the bay from Homer, Alaska, to be exact, in a small "Tent and Breakfast" (like a Bed & Breakfast, but with tents)! To get to the venue, guests had to take a water taxi from Homer - their photographer, Liz Morrow Studios, shares On my ride back from the venue at 11:30pm (in the water taxi), we happened upon a pod of feeding Humpback whales! The boat captain stopped and we all watched for at least 20 minutes. It was amazing.

Taking inspiration from the Alaskan wilderness, the bridesmaids all rocked bright salmon pink dresses. Aimée floated down the aisle in a huge tulle gown + a homemade wildflower crown, which looked amazing in her voluminous locks. The couple shares We wanted our wedding day to mirror our relationship, who we are individually and our hope for the future. We centered our ceremony around our love for nature, our cultural heritages, and our desire to include our close friends and family in our marriage. Creating an experience that was truly about the two of us began with the venue location. Jake was born in Alaska and Aimée lived and currently worked there, so having the wedding up here was very meaningful to us.

Jake: For me it was seeing Aimée for the first time that day at our ceremony. I felt an incredible feeling of love, connection and excitement. It was an amazingly meaningful way to begin the wedding ceremony.
Aimée: It was when we said our vows to each other. Hearing and sharing those words we had put so much thought and time into really distilled the essence of why we love each other and wanted to get married. Sharing this in the presence of our friends and family was very powerful.

Everyone headed inside to the cozy lodge and had salmon for dinner! (Is it truly an Alaskan wedding if you don't have salmon?)

The couple shares Our cake wasAimée's childhood favorite - pineapple, coconut and passionfruit.It was a homemade paleo cake with vegan icing and seriously delicious!

Keep it small if you can. When you have a smaller wedding you get to spend more time with the people you care about. You would be surprised how difficult planning a wedding for just 30-40 people can be. A smaller wedding allows you to craft the wedding the way you want to and spend more time on the details.

Also, people want to help! So plan to delegate tasks to people you trust. You might have to give up some control, but allowing others to help you allows them to be part of your special day and keeps you sane. The help of our friends + family was invaluable and there were so many things that fell into place perfectly because of them. It made us feel close to one another because everyone felt connected and were part of making the day great.
