Vintage Inspired DIY Wedding

From the Bride: Desert Plantation was the most beautiful location; it has that vintage charm that we were looking for. After finding the location, I was ecstatic to get to start planning our wedding. I knew I wanted to make as many of the decorations as possible, so I started about 10 months before our wedding date. I made the hanging flowers at the ceremony site, my sash for my wedding dress, the different signs we had up all around the location, and a few other things.

Laid Back Cocktail Hour

We really wanted people to have fun spending time together so we had yard games, board games, and photo booth props for people to do together. My mother, mother-in-law, aunt and I worked for months on make this day exactly what Jackson and I were wanting. We are so thankful for all of the help that was involved in making our wedding even more beautiful than we had imagined.

Personalized Centerpieces

We wanted our wedding to feel really personal as well, so we had little touches of us throughout the wedding. For example, all our our centerpieces on the table had something to do with us. We had old cameras on the table because we are photographers, a stuffed animal that Jackson gave me when we were kids, etc...

Paper Airplane Wedding Exit

We absolutely adore Abbie and Jackson's wedding day! The easy-going vintage feel is one of our favorites and the cherry on the top of this beautiful day was their fun paper airplane exit! That's right paper airplanes sailing through the air as the bride and groom make their way to their shiny red mustang convertible! Super cute!

Bride Advice
Honestly, the only thing I wish I would've done differently was have a cute pair of shoes to change into after my heels. I had heels on, but everyone knows how uncomfortable heels can be after an hour, so I changed into the only other shoes I had which were my favorite grey tennis shoes. Looking back I wish I would've worn a cute pair of brown oxfords or some other cute flats instead.

My advice to future brides would be to start planning right away. When we got engaged, Jackson and I sat down that same day and started talking about what we wanted our wedding to be like. We started talking to vendors and I started making decorations within the month. In the end I was so glad I started planning everything right away because by the time the week of my wedding rolled around I had nothing to worry about and could enjoy all of the wedding festivities!

Location and lodging: $4,500 (This included location for the weekend, and staying at the plantation for the weekend, linens, and tables and chairs)
