Sentimental Brooklyn Wedding

Sentimental Brooklyn Wedding

Aqua and coral is just one of those color combinations we never get tired of seeing over here at Ruffled, especially when photographed by Jennifer Boyle Photography. Emily and Dustin used the color palette to its full potential, and included some supremely personal and darling touches in their reception - including naming each of their tables after spots where they had their first dates.

From the bride, Emily: We wanted a true Brooklyn feel - industrial, vintage, and rustic. Our wedding decor was extremely personalized. Our tables were named after the places where we had our first dates. Vintage and antique pieces from our families were displayed throughout the space - Dustin's grandfather's hardhat, glass electric line insulators from my electrician grandfather, lace made by my great-grandmother.

We wanted a professional design, but also wanted to by part of the process of bringing the whole wedding together. We worked closely with Katelin of KFN Events & Styling to coordinate on projects that we could help with. My dad built the cake stand and frames for Katelin's custom chalkboard signs.

Any advice for couples planning their weddings now? Enjoy every second! Don't stress - there will likely be something that goes wrong (our original transportation company cancelled on us two days before our wedding!) but everything will work out. It's the BEST day of your life!

From the photographer, Jennifer of Jennifer Boyle Photography: This wedding was the epitome of Brooklyn itself. Modern, urban, with Anthropologie-inspired decor by one of their previous store-window designers who has now started her own wedding Styling companies, KFN Styling and Events. To DIE for!! In The Green Building, a converted brass foundry in gritty Gowanus, Brooklyn. A Cool Haus Ice Cream truck as a surprise during the reception. Beautiful mint-colored, flowy bridesmaid dresses. A wire-haired dachshund included in the bridal party. So much fun and so photogenic! I'd classify it, also, as DIY because it was almost completely put together by family and friends, who just happen to be amazing stylists and have access to birch trees to chop up and make table decor out of :)

Wedding Music:
My very talented cousins were our string trio for the processional, playing Canon in D. My brother played guitar and sang Ben Folds' "The Luckiest" during our ceremony. Our recessional was The Pixies "Here Comes Your Man." Our first dance was The Avett Brothers "Life"
