Romantic Pink & Gold Brooklyn Wedding

Romantic Pink & Gold Brooklyn Wedding

via

One of my favourite things about my job is getting to see just how different and unique each and every wedding really is.

On Friday, we shared a gorgeous city wedding with you guys, with an urban venue, chic style, and creative details, and today, we're sharing the same.

But these two celebrations couldn't be less alike.

Friday's downtown LA bash was modern, minimal and informal, while Gerdy & Ahmet's Brooklyn wedding today, is romantic, whimsical and classic.

Styled, so beautifully by Tatiana Jones of Whimsy Weddings, Gerdy & Ahmet's day was laced with pink blooms, gold adornments and elegant finishing touches.

With a cool warehouse-style setting in New York, they were able to balance their whimsical decor with their urban location, beautifully.

One of those weddings where the bride can't stop smiling from morning to night, there's a lot to love about this big day.

So grab a cup of tea and enjoy these gorgeous photographs by Ben Lau Photography and Pearl Paper Studio.

Wedding Day Snapshot

Our Love Story

We met through the help of a close mutual friend and a Super Bowl party. Ahmet proposed to me in Istanbul, Turkey by the Bosporus River. Words to best describe your wedding? Romantic, Intimate, Classic, Timeless, Elegant, Whimsical.

Our Wedding

I wanted our wedding to be romantic, intimate and timeless. In our minds, we wanted it to be classic and elegant so we chose to go with a blush pink and gold matte color scheme.

The Music

My dream was to walk down the aisle with my mom to the "Ave Marie" song as it was something she always wanted for me and it came true.

The Ceremony

Given that my husband is Muslim and I am Catholic I felt very blessed that he agreed to get married in a Catholic church. Getting married in front of God has always been very important to me and to find a church which allowed us to do so meant the world to me.

The Dresses

I fell in love with two gowns and my wonderful mother was fortunate enough to get me both. The first gown was a Martina Liana gown with lacy and delicate sparkles all over which shined with every step I took. It had a beautiful train and buttons along the entire back. I wore it for the ceremony. The second gown was a Maggie Sottero. It has a sexy corset back and bustle. It was perfect to party in.

The Photography

Our wedding photographers were the same folks who took our engagement pictures. We loved the pictures so much we decided to ask him to shoot our wedding and they did a magnificent job capturing all the special moments.

The Venue

The minute we walked into the space at 26 Bridge we could imagine us celebrating the most important day of our life together with our family and friends. It was like an empty canvas that we were able to let our imaginations run wild on. It was amazing to be allowed to go from a vision we had to the reality of our actual wedding day. The venue was just the right balance between a rough strong look and an elegant timeless feeling.

Our Favourite Details

The little golden succulent escort card holders, The picture frame windows with our baby pics. The candle made to honor my father.

The Refreshments

Our dear friend, Mark is a mixologist and created our unique signature drink called a "Love-a-rita".It was a raspberry-rose water margarita with a Himalayan pink sea salt rim and rose petal garnish. I surprised my husband with a groom's cake. He loves French fries so with Tatiana's help we found an amazing baker who created a French fry cake with a Nutella filling. He was surprised and loved it. I had "You're the Fry for Me" written on it.

The Budget

It was important for us to share this moment with close loved ones and make sure they all had a memorable time. We knew it was important to have great food that infused flavors and ingredients from both our cultures (Turkish and Colombian/Serbian), music that got everyone in the spirit, an ambiance that felt intimate and plenty of alcohol of course!

The Honeymoon

We had a once in a lifetime trip to South Africa and Mauritius. We started our honeymoon by visiting Capetown, staying at one of the most romantic hotels and just taking in the sights and sounds. We were so excited to start eating food again after the diet regiment we were on! The second part of our trip was something neither one of our ever imagined could do, we went on a three-day safari and saw the "Big Five" up close and personal. To round it out, we just relaxed and unwound on the beautiful beaches of Mauritius.

Favourite Moments

The entire day was truly magical. From the moment it started when we were both getting ready with our groomsmen and bridesmaids; the moment we were actually married at the church and beginning our journey together; the moment we made our first entrance together as husband and wife; to just taking it all in towards the end of the night and seeing the joy and happiness that all our friends and family were experiencing. The entire day was as magical and memorable as I ever hoped it would be.

Advice for Other Couples

I highly recommend a wedding planner. You might think you can handle it all but when that last day comes you want to enjoy every second because it goes by in a flash. The last thing you need to be doing is worrying. I also think you spend time just enjoying your engagement - if you can do it, plan a quick getaway together and just put wedding planning off for a bit and enjoy each other's company.

Such a fab wedding, I love that luxurious tree for the escort card table, the bottles of bubbly are such a nice touch too!

And it's always so wonderful to hear when couples of different faiths can be accommodated for their wedding ceremony - that's so special!

Thanks so much to Tatiana Jones of Whimsy Weddings, Ben Lau Photography and Pearl Paper Studio and of course, Gerdy & Ahmet for sharing their beautiful Brooklyn wedding with us.
