Groom Tom is a musician and so a music festival was a natural and fitting choice for this indie couple's nuptials.

Alison and Tom tied the knot on the 18th July 2015 in a church local to where Alison grew up. They then headed off to Upperwood House Farm in Lancashire for the post wedding party. The barn is actually a working barn used to house sheep and it's industrial chic looks worked perfectly.

Their day was a real DIY affair with home-grown and arranged blooms, cakes baked by the guests and performances by their talented friends (and Tom too). The bridesmaids looked so sweet in mismatched lace frocks and that classic rouge car is immense.

Alison looked boho beautiful in a short frock she found on Etsy teamed with a cardie and flower crown. LOVE.

THE PROPOSAL | Tom proposed during a walk around the water in the valley which is close by to where I grew up in Lancashire. Its a special place to us and we've spent a lot of time there over the years. It was important to us to be able to have the wedding as close by to this place as possible.

THE VISION | We wanted the wedding to feel a lot like a music festival. The location was most important to us, we scoured the surrounding area in the valley close to where Alison grew up, where her parents still live but there simply wasn't any wedding venues close enough to the valley. We found Upperwood House Farm, which is right at the top of the valley, and has views of the valley and the water below so we used the barn. We wanted a relaxed as possible day where everyone could have fun and relax, Tom is a musician so music was always going to be an important part of the day, we have lots of friends who were happy to play during the reception for us, and we really just wanted a big party where everyone could dance. We rigged up a stage, light display and giant disco ball!

THE PLANNING PROCESS | We were quite relaxed in the planning and enlisted help from family and friends, the flowers were all home grown, the wine we all bought during a trip to France, there really wasn't much to it, we were keen not to turn things into a huge event that took endless planning.

THE VENUE | We married at St. John's Church which is the local church to where Alison grew up and Upperwood House Farm, Greenfield. was the reception venue. Its a working sheep farm, and the barn we used is used to house sheep! :)

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress and shoes were both found on Etsy, and was dressed up with a cardigan for the evening when it got a bit cooler. Necklace was borrowed from my best friend Cara's mum, and earnings were borrowed from my mum. I made my own and all of the bridesmaids flower headpieces.

FINDING THE DRESS | I knew what kind of style I wanted, something simple and fairly practical, in keeping with the festival style of the wedding. I came across it on Etsy without too much looking!

THE READINGS & MUSIC | A lot of our friends are in bands so we let them get up and play if they wanted to during the reception, Ali's Couson played piano during the first part of the reception, during the evening we had the Pangea Steel Pan Band, along with Dj's Emily Dust and Invisible A. Tom and two of his friends also surprised everyone and got up and played along with the band!

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had my 3 best friends and sister, who were all allowed to pick their own dresses, I wanted them to be as comfortable as possible and wear whatever they wanted.

THE FLOWERS | All homegrown by my Mum!

THE CAKE | We used all of our guests to make a cake, so we had a fantastic collection of home made cakes!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | We are both really into photography, and it was important to find the right person to capture our day. We looked all over for the right person, and although there are so many great photographers out there none of them felt right until we came across Matt's work. His website was so unique, even the name of his business was striking, his work really stood out and we knew as soon as we had looked through a couple of weddings of his that he was right for us. On the day he was great, we we're keen not to have too many staged photographs, we wanted to have a few quiet moments alone in the valley and wanted Matt to capture that without him being intrusive, which he wasn't. He knew exactly when to direct us, and when to leave us to it, he captured so much of the day that we didn't even realise took place. We couldn't have asked for anything more and would thoroughly recommend him to anyone. :)

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | We used lots of hay bales, flags, drapes and bunting and dressed the barn but we were keen to keep it looking as rustic and authentic as possible. We also hired in a huge lighting rig and disco ball!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Being with all of our favourite people, Tom surprising everyone and playing with the band!
