Réan & Leona's Shepstone Gardens Wedding - Wedding Friends

via

Love can cross borders and love can build walls. What a way to start off your Monday with the beautiful wedding of Réan and Leona at Shepstone Gardens. These two friends fell madly in love after they thought they were only friends. A striking story actually, your best friend becomes your soulmate. The wedding was photographed by a young talented individual named Clareece Smit who captured this wedding with such style and elegance. It is not what you say, but how you say it that counts, and Clareece told the story beautifully. Have a look at their wedding video by Hauke Digital Productions.

Lovebirds | How did you two meet?

We met as classmates in our first year of studies in university. Funny enough we both
didn't have the initial attractions for each other. It was only through becoming best of
friends that we realised we had more than friendship on our minds for each other. We
went through an awkward stage where we were both trying to escape the dreaded "friend
zone", but had no idea how to and we also didn't want to risk the cost of the friendship.
However we soon figured out that our feelings were reciprocal and so we took the plunge
of turning our friendship into romance and we haven't regretted it since.

I said Yes | How did the proposal go down?

He sent me on a treasure hunt with envelopes along the way that gave instructions as to
where next I should go. This all happened on a very unsuspecting Monday, where I
started the day off with a breakfast he prepared for me, he then sent me to the hair and
nail salon with gifts on the way which included a watch, perfume, and a new dress I was
instructed to wear. I eventually arrived at my final destination at the park that was
opposite my place and to my surprise my parents and best friend were there to gift me a
Protea flower each, before I walked down a red carpet of flowers to where he was
waiting.

The Big Day | Tell us the most memorable moment of your wedding day?

As clichéd as it may seem, I must say that the most memorable part of the day was the
moment I turned the corner as I was walking down the aisle: I had never seen his eyes so
full of joy and emotion before, I could see he struggled to fight back the tears and that
really made me feel so special. I play that moment over and over in my head all the time.

I Quote | Describe in one sentence your wedding day

We always belonged to each other, but now it's on paper!

Forever & Always | Any advice for future brides

Choose your venue and your dress first! Venues book out fast, and unless you don't mind
waiting 2 years to get married, it's something that should be decided ASAP. Same thing
goes with the big white dress. Many of my friends were shocked to learn that my
wedding dress was estimated to take at least 3 months to make, and quite often than not,
they can take up to 6 months if you are ordering your dress from a boutique that
manufactures the dresses overseas. So go ahead with wedding dress trials as soon as you
are engaged so that you have a good idea as to what type of dress you like, otherwise that
dream dress in the magazine you saw might not become your dream come true.
