Super Pretty Candy Coloured Country Marquee Wedding - Whimsical...

via

I hope that you have had a wonderful Easter weekend and that you have a lovely bank holiday Monday in store today :-) Those of you planning your Spring/Summer weddings will just adore this pretty candy coloured marquee wedding.

Robert and Abbey were married in May last year and hoped to create a rustic country wedding at the family farm. There were DIY touches galore, from decorated jars to pom poms and the fab seating plan.

Abbey looked gorgeous in her Pronovias lace gown and I so love the peony filled bouquets. Divine.

Thanks so very much Carly Bevan for sharing her beautiful imagery today.

THE PROPOSAL | Robert proposed to me when I was ironing a shirt for him in our hotel room ( hotel du vin in Harrogate) He had taken me away for the night in-between Christmas and new year (29/12/2012).

THE VISION | We wanted a rustic country theme.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I had been waiting for a proposal for a long time and had already bought a few magazines so I had quite a clear idea of how I would like my wedding to look. I also was inspired and had picked out the best bits of friends and family weddings I had been to.

BUDGET | £30,000 but we went a bit over.

THE VENUE | We got married in All Saints Church in Brantingham then had a marquee at our family farm in Brantingham.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | I bought my dress from Confetti and Lace in Leeds. The dress was Pronovias with Justin Alexander belt and straps. I also had a lace bolero. My veil was by Ronald Joyce. Shoes were from Nine West.

FINDING THE DRESS | I went to 2 different dress shops before I went to Brides of Harrogate, I went there because they stocked Pronovias. I always loved the romantic look of a Pronovias dress. I bought the dress from them but they closed down, luckily they had another store in Leeds, where I went for my fittings, they were so friendly and I would recommend them to everyone!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | I always love to see a groom in tails and luckily for me Robert didn't mind me choosing. We decided together that he would wear navy. We got his attire from a hire shop in Hull. Roberts favourite thing was his Purdy cufflinks (he is very into shooting).

THE READINGS & MUSIC | Readings were, Colossians 3.12-17 and 1 Corinthians 13. Hymns were Jerusalem, We pledge to one another and To be a pilgrim. whilst signing the register our string quartet played our first dance sons which was One day like this by Elbow.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had 4 bridesmaids, my sister Heather, my three oldest friends, lucy, Ailsa and Sarah. we also had our niece Poppy as a flower girl and our two sons, Benjamin and Oliver as page boys.

The bridesmaid dresses were from Etsy and by Coralie Beatrix. The petticoats were from Doris Designs.

THE FLOWERS | I loved my flowers! my florist got them just how I wanted them! My florist was Susan at flower style in Driffield. I had a broach on my bouquet that I found in a charity shop for £3.00!

Robert had shotgun cartridge badges on his button holes, to bring the element of shooting to his attire and make them more personal (and in Robert's words, more manly)

THE CAKE | was made by my Friend Lisa from Vanilla Cupcakes. We had different flavoured sponges and it was delicious.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Was the fantastic Carly Bevan. As soon as Robert had proposed I knew I wanted Carly to be our photographer, I love Carly's style of photography. I couldn't recommend her highly enough!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | I made nearly everything! From bunting to table centres, seating plan to order of services. I used a lot of hessian, lace and I grew to love my glue gun! One of my favourite things we did was my basket of flip flops for the ladies, they went down a storm!

THE HONEYMOON | After I was in charge of choosing most of the wedding Robert chose the honeymoon. We went to Amalfi in Italy for a week. Roberts parents had our boys so we just relaxed and soaked up the sun.

I absolutely loved Amalfi I cant recommend it highly enough! So pleased we went there!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Being early!! I was 5 minutes early (for the church) so we stopped the car and topped up lipgloss and chilled, whilst we did the sun came out after raining all morning. Walking into the church and seeing how full it was of everyone I know and loved and they were all smiling at me, then turning the corner to see Robert waiting for me. Hearing our string quartet. After having our photos taken at the farm I had to ask my new husband to take me to the loo as my dress was rather large. It was funny and a good time to have a chat just the two of us. :)

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | If you can, a good videographer. Our video is amazing and Tony and Sarah from Marry Me Films were just amazing. So friendly and professional, I felt so relaxed with them, I couldn't recommend them highly enough!
