Sunday Ramble. Our Bathroom Renovation.

Sunday Ramble. Our Bathroom Renovation.

via

Our bathroom is the last room in our house that needs attention. As some of you may well know we brought our home in late 2013 and in a month blitzed the house, which hadn't been updated in many years. We installed new electrics, windows, re plastered (thanks Dad), painted, re carpeted and put in a new boiler amongst many other jobs.

In the summer we did up the kitchen (there are still a few niggly jobs to finish before I can share some photos) but we left our downstairs bathroom as a future project. We hoped to save up enough to extend and move our bathroom upstairs. But alas funds seem to be constantly allocated else where so we've decided to do up the bathroom for now on a budget.

Our home is an ex local authority 1930s semi detached. Many of the original features are intact and we believe that our bathroom suite is original. So it's staying. Plus it's the biggest bath I've ever been in and perfect for a good long hot soak ;-)

That takes away a large cost. So we are changing the taps, putting in a shower (I've been kneeling down with a shower head to have a wash - even when I was 9 months pregnant) and changing the tiling. We had some vinyl wood effect flooring put down a while back and that will be staying for the time being I think.

We are going to try and stay in keeping with a 1930s feel but with a modern edge. We are going for white metro tiles with white grout, a rainfall shower head and black and grey accessories. G has already changed the taps, installed a new bath panel and added a chrome waste pipe on the sink which has made a big difference. Plus I had a little spend up on H&M online. I LOVE their home ware, inexpensive yet so stylish...

I wanted a little bit of a mix and match feel to the towels, as I am hoping to install some shelving for practical and pretty purposes. We are currently tossing up between wooden crates and a vintage retro kitchen cabinet at the moment. Plus we need to decide on a shower curtain vs a screen. Help?!

We also found this retro kitchen unit when vintage shopping one weekend. This little blue beauty is already taking pride of place and is great for storage. Yay.

I cannot wait to get the bathroom finished. Any working mums know you need a haven and the tub with a good book is mine. Now I am in need of some luxury. Fingers crossed I will be sharing some before and afters REAL soon :-)

Come tell me about your bathroom make overs. I am still on the hunt for a toilet brush, loo roll holder and shelving. Any suggestions ingenious ideas/places to shop?

Happy Sunday XOXO Lou
