Rustic & Nature Look Mustard Yellow Barn Wedding

Rustic & Nature Look Mustard Yellow Barn Wedding

via

Linzi and Dan won their wedding photography with Alice at Babb Photo in a contest on WWW :-) I featured their engagement shoot a couple of weeks ago and I am super excited to be sharing their wedding with you today.

Linzi and Dan were married on the 18th October 2014, choosing the beautiful barn at the White Hart in Essex to host their wedding day. This wedding is a rustic delight, all logs, Billy Button blooms, twine and hessian. Their wedding cake is without a doubt one of the best naked sponge cakes I have had the pleasure of viewing and I just adore the pretty mustard yellow (my fav!) colours throughout.

Linzi looked beautiful in her So Sassi tea length gown while Dan wore a tweed brown suit. So lovely!

Thanks today goes to Alice at Babb Photo for providing the lovely imagery.

THE PROPOSAL | A restaurant on a lake on holiday in Montenegro September 2014 - very romantic!

THE VISION | We were going to a rustic nature look to fit with our barn venue.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | I was pretty organised with the planning as I am impatient more than anything! We had the venue booked and the dress and suits ordered before xmas. The rest was a steady process through the next few months. The hardest thing was sourcing the logs I wanted for the centre pieces on the table. We didn't get these until August and took a long time to sand down and varnish!

BUDGET | Our Budget was £15k (excluding honeymoon!)

THE VENUE | The White Hart, Great Yeldham.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | The dress was a short ivory dress by So Sassi. Accessories were shoes from Phase 8 and hair clip and earrings from Debenhams.

FINDING THE DRESS | I only spent 1 day finding the dress. Went to 3 shops and found it in the last shop and ordered it there and then. I knew it was the one as soon as I put it on!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Grooms and wedding party suits were all from Next. Tweed (ish) look with the groom in brown and the rest of the party in grey. Complete with braces.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | The readings were read by my mums best friend Kim Barber - the love monkey by Edward Monkton and a poem Oh the places you'll go by Dr Suess read by Mark Winspear, groom's friend.

The music we walked down the aisle to was First Day of my Life by Bright Eyes & first dance was Maccabees Toothpaste Kisses.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | The bridesmaids were my sister Nikki and cousin Emily. They wore Ted Baker yellow/mustard dresses with gold shoes from New Look. The flower girls had ivory dresses from Next with matching shoes.

THE FLOWERS | The flowers were done by aunt, Anne Barratt. I bought silk petals for the flower girls.

THE CAKE | The cake was a naked cake created by my Friends Mum Jan Cooper. We also had a cake table which had cakes and brownies made by friends and family.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | The photographer was Alice at Babb Photo.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | The décor was fairly minimal. Lots of candles, jam jars, twine, logs and Billy Buttons (flowers). We also had some hessian bunting around the top table and sweet treat tables. The seating plan was written by my brother in-law Alex on a large chalk board along with some other signs around the venue. And at the grooms request we had hessian sacks at the bar full of extra large pork scratchings!

THE HONEYMOON | The honeymoon was a road trip around the Yucatan peninsular in Mexico. Lots of sun, sea, thunderstorms and site seeing. For the first few days we stayed at Luv Tulum in Tulum which was a very romantic tiny hotel. Right on the beach and very rustic. It is an eco resort so salt water showers and no hair driers! I loved it!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | We loved having a photo booth at our wedding - I would highly recommend this over a standard guest book. It was lovely to be presented with our huge guest book with hilarious photos and comments throughout. The photos got funnier as the evening progressed... some people had one too many by the end! It will be something we will treasure.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | My advice is to try and be as organised as you can so there is nothing to do on the actual day. Make sure everyone who is there to help you knows what you want them to do so you don't need to worry. The day goes so quick and the last thing you want to do is be sorting out last minute details. Just try and relax and enjoy the preparation.
