Wedding Inspiration from Dark Florals

Wedding Inspiration from Dark Florals

via

One of the best things about the enormously creative wedding community that has been steadily building over the past several years is the concept of balking tradition in favor of doing what speaks to you. Today's gorgeous styled shoot, planned + designed by The Glamour Effect, falls right in line with that idea and features a stunning black dress, an avant grade headpiece (which is actually a repurposed statement necklace!), and incredibly lovely, untamed blooms. Sounding awesome already, right? Let's hear a little more backstory from the talented photographer, Brittany Mahood, before we dive into the photos:

This editorial came from a creative space of craving a different perspective on jewel tones and florals. While I love the soft and neutral colors that have been so popular the past couple of seasons, we wondered what was next. What comes after the beautiful watercolor inspired designs? So we envisioned a moodier scene of darker florals, bolder statement pieces while still being shot in a luminous setting...

The shawl the bride is wearing was used as the statement piece that served as the inspiration for the rest of the details. I always encourage my brides to have one detail that means something to them or captures the mood they want their wedding to have and hold every other detail in the wedding up to that.

This bouquet by Academy Florist, abundant with green + purple tones, is truly a stunner, don't you think?!

Feeling bold yourself + craving a different kind of wedding dress? If you're looking for a gorgeous jet-hued option, we love this beauty by L'Wren Scott!

And how gorge is this painted cake by Laugh Love Cakes?!

So ladies, tell us, are any of you wearing a black wedding dress? Or a gown of any hue other than the norm? We'd love to hear! And thanks so much to the talented group of wedding creatives below for sharing their beautiful work with us today!
