A Surprise Proposal Engagement

A Surprise Proposal Engagement

I am such a romantic, well i would have to be writing a wedding blog wouldn’t i?! Hehe. In all seriousness this shoot got me, right there.

Emma and Rob decided to have a love shoot, but unbeknown to Emma, Rob was planning a proposal. The whole proposal was a total surprise to Emma and all the emotions were caught on camera. Grab the tissues!

Thanks so much to the fantastic Darren Mack for sharing his photographs with us today.

Emma told me; “We met while at university, our courses were in the same building and we had a lot of mutual friends so kept bumping into each other. Eventually we met, got talking and started to get pretty friendly. We eventually got together on Robs birthday, we were dressed in fancy dress for it, Rob was the cat in the hat and I was an owl!”

“We moved in together at uni pretty much instantly. People used to joke about how we were like chalk and cheese, but the people who know us can see how our differences compliment each other’s personalities. After graduating, we both got jobs at American summer camps, unintentionally in separate states. We thought that the extended time apart would either make us or break us, and when we reunited to travel across the states, we were stronger than ever. We returned and moved to Rob’s hometown, we’re currently just saving for our future and planning more adventures.”

“So much fun! It’s not something we’d ever imagined ourselves doing, as we’re not openly affectionate people and both prefer being behind the camera, but the opportunity arose and we went for it. Of course at the start I didn’t understand why Rob felt so nervous about the day. Lots of people have engagement shoots, but it’s rare to be able to have photographs of the very moment you got engaged! Darren was great at making us feel comfortable and relaxed, and not once did we feel ourselves having to ‘pose’.”

“I was taken completely by surprise, we’d mentioned marriage in the past but I thought I’d have to do a lot more nagging and hinting before he actually popped the question! The setting was perfect, and I’m thrilled that now we’ll always have the photos as a keepsake. I know that our friends and family who live many miles away are very grateful for them too. Put simply, I’m the happiest I’ve ever been.”

“It will probably be a long while off yet as we’re trying hard to save money. We’re pretty creative so we will be looking into things we can make by hand or up-cycle, hopefully it will mean the little details will be personal and quirky (and affordable). The most important thing for us is that our loved ones can be there. We also love to travel and the outdoors so we think that settling on a location will be our biggest challenge!”

Rob told me;  “I’d been planning the engagement for months, I work in a jewellers so I was always getting rings in and getting my colleagues to try them on so I could find the best one. I knew that I wanted to propose but I didn’t really know how, then as soon as the photo shoot was organised I knew that it would be the perfect opportunity. The actual day was really nerve-wracking, I didn’t really know how it was going to go as I can get pretty shy under pressure but it went amazingly, and to top it all off she said yes!”

Ahhhh sooo amazing and just the most romantic moment :-) Thanks so much for sharing guys XOXO Lou
