Weekendspiration: Match Your Makeup to your Music with 3 Concert Beauty Looks

Obviously we go to concerts for the music, but we’d be lying if we said a set of show tickets in our hands didn’t get our minds reeling with beauty inspiration. A date with our favorite band is the perfect excuse to whip out electric eyeliner, a dramatic lip or whatever bold makeup choice our heart desires. Whether you’re a festival chick headed to Lollapalooza, a hip hop princess counting down the days to the J.T. & Jay-Z Legends of Summer tour, or a rock goddess just Livin’ on a Prayer until Bon Jovi rolls into town, we’ve got all the concert beauty inspiration to carry you through your summer weekend lineup.

Something about an open-air venue makes us want to let our hair down and let our beauty imagination run wild. Colorful winged eyeliner is always an option, but professional makeup artist Elyse Reneau opted instead for a more unexpected choice: a colored under-wing. The summer sun can get hot so Reneau chose the long-lasting, waterproof formula of Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Electric to create this exaggerated eyeliner. She kept the eyelid understated with a wash of soft, neutral shadow. For this muted mauve shade, Reneau layered the cream-based MAC Paint Pot in Painterly and topped it off with Maybelline ExpertWear EyeShadow in Silken Taupe. Glowing skin, pale pink lips and dash of turquoise hair chalk complete the flower child, festival-ready feel.

Hip Hop Hottie

A hint of winged eyeliner, a smoky eye with a little pop of color, and a nude lip make for a concert beauty look that have us wishing we were seeing Beyonce belt it out on stage this weekend (as if we weren’t already). LA-based makeup artist Lily Marsh lined the upper lashes with Tarte MultiplEYE Lash Enhancing Liquid Liner for a precise wing, before creating a smoky eye. But a night spent jamming out to our favorite songs deserves more than your average smoke, so Marsh added a glimmer of teal shimmer with L’Oréal Infallible 24 HR Eye Shadow in Endless Sea to the center of the lid. Final touches for a hip hop look worthy of Mrs. Carter herself included sun-kissed skin and nude lips.

Rock & Roll Babe

The promise of a good rock ballad is all the motivation we need to ditch our bubblegum pink pout and break out a pair of bold, vampy lips. Marsh loves the texture and pigment of the Lancôme Rouge in Love Lipcolor in Fiery Attitude she used here. For the skin, Marsh created a matte look by layering two primers (Dermablend SkinPerfector Pigment Correcting Primer followed by L’Oréal RevitaLift Miracle Blur) under a matte finish foundation, like Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Full Coverage Foundation. Some matte eye shadow, defined eyebrows, and long lashes finish off the glam rock look.
