What made you decide to become a jeweler?

After spending time in South America doing an apprenticeship and attending a jewelry school, I came to realize that this was my true passion and calling. I love interior design and fashion, but felt drawn to express my creativity through jewelry. Since then, I continue to be inspired to design jewelry that IS timeless, with a twist.

How would you describe your style?

My jewelry collection is a blend of modern and vintage nuances - typically more delicate and feminine, but there are a few bolder pieces mixed in to the collection. Everything can be worn day-to-night or layered, depending on your personal style.

What inspires you?

Travel tops the list! I find inspiration in museums, marketplaces, different cultures and - quite simply - seeing what other jewelry is out there in the world. All of these things combined, along with inspiration from my clients, is what you see in the finished pieces.

What sets you apart from other jewelers?

I think it would have to be in the details. My pieces aren't big, showy pieces for the most part, but they get noticed because of the little details that set them apart. It might not necessarily be something you see from the top of a ring, but rather a small detail you would see from the side, which makes it that much more special.

Do you have any advice for a bride and groom on their wedding day?

I think its important to do whatever it takes to enable them to enjoy their friends and family as much as possible. At the end of the day, the most important thing is to take advantage of having everyone important to them in one place and to relish in that moment. And to have beautiful rings, of course!

What is the first thing you ask couples when they come to you for a custom piece?

I ask each of them if they have anything in mind for the design or if they would like me to come up with the ideas as a starting point. I ask about their personal style, couple style and life styles in order to craft something simply perfect.

What do you think the most important factor is when designing?

It is most important that the ring will stand the test of time and isn't too trendy, but also looks current. Secondly, I would say that the ring is practical for the lifestyle of the bride.

Does it make it easier for you when brides bring in very exact ideas or do you feel like it stilts creativity?

It's definitely helpful to bring in ideas as a starting point, then I can offer up creative ideas to incorporate. At the end of the day, the bride has to LOVE the ring, so listening to what she wants is the most important factor for me. It can be a lot of fun when I meet with a groom and he says "I have no idea what my girlfriend wants, and it is going to be a total surprise". While it is a big risk, it can be a lot of fun on the creative side of things.

What do you do when you're not making jewelry?

I am always on the go! I love yoga, skiing, traveling, hiking, walking my 14 year-old lab (Kenya), or spending time with family and friends.
