From the Bride:
When Kyle and I got engaged and began thinking about our wedding, we both knew we wanted a wedding in the Fall at my family's farmhouse in Pendleton, SC. The home, known as "The Retreat", was built in the 1800s and has been in our family since the early 1900s. My grandmother grew up at The Retreat and had her wedding reception was held there, so it was really special to be able to do the same 52 years later!
Using a wide hurricane glass and filling it with a white candle, collect acorns or an alternate natural elements found in the great outdoors to make an easy yet fetching wedding centerpiece.
For future brides, I would tell them that if they are going to have an outdoor wedding, make sure they are just as happy with the back-up plan as they are with their outdoor scenario. For my wedding, I was lucky enough to have the weather clear up a few hours before so we could have the ceremony outside. However, the whole week of the wedding we anticipated having it in the reception tent. In my case, I would have been really bummed to not have the ceremony in the front lawn as planned. It made me realized how important it is to LOVE the back-up plan just as much as the original plan. That way, you will not be disappointed with either scenario and you will not have to stress about the weather the week before the wedding!Flowers: Pam Rowland
