Polka Dot Bride

One of the most common pieces of advice for weddings given when we ask couples to pass it on is to find ways to be present.⁠ ⁠ Take the time to breathe it all in, ground yourself and capture the moment in your memories. The best way to do it? Enlist a friend or vendor to pull you aside and remind you. Find a corner, walk outside by the window and stop with your new husband or wife and really look and take it all in.⁠ ⁠ One of our favourite stories is of a couple who grabbed a picnic rug, a bottle of bubbles and cheese to enjoy while they watched their wedding guests devour cocktails and canapes and celebrate their merriment.⁠ ⁠ But what I want to pass on more than anything, is that if you don't manage to do it, if you still feel like your day passed you by, That it's okay, it's even to be expected. I can't remember a single moment on my wedding day that I was present, it felt like it was surreal and an out of body experience the entire day. And to be honest, surrounded by friends and family, with new experiences and long thought of moments unfolding in real-time, it doesn't surprise me in the least. THIS is why incredible photographers and cinematographers who are there to tell your story are worth their weight in gold⁠.
