Happy Friday! It’s been a while since I’ve said hello ‘officially’ so I figure after this week’s @instagram snafu, I thought I’d do a little #fridayintro! So many ask how @hanafloral started 15 years ago and that story doesn’t exist without talking about my mom’s untimely passing. I was in my twenties doing my #nyc thing and out of nowhere she was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and died within 6 months. After the fog of grief lifted a bit, I found myself taking the summer off and working at a flower shop/nursery. My sweet 80-something Italian boss said, “Yumik (he never did add the “o”) you are a natural!” And so that started my journey into the flower world, working for him and another shop and taking classes in between. Fast forward, here we are and I still find so much joy in my work. I love to be a part of one of the happiest occasions in life and although this path was born out of my own grief I’m always so thankful for that. Happy Friday everyone!
