Edgy Bohemian Vow Renewal in the Woods

Edgy Bohemian Vow Renewal in the Woods

Here at GWS, we wholeheartedly believe that each + every day is a reason to celebrate your love. So when we came across this vow renewal, photographed by Julie Paisley, we were ALL about it! Amber + Josh got married in their early twenties, but their wedding day didn't really reflect their personalities - the church didn't allow dancing, so they they missed out on their first dance! Wanting to create a day that truly captured this couple's creative style, Julie teamed up Cedarwood - a historic venue in Nashville, Tennessee with a top-of-the-line wedding design team.

Julie shares We layered neutral hues and created a moody + romantic scene in the wintry woods. This bohemian vow renewal featured a handmade macramé altar studded with vintage amber brooches, a mud cloth rug, and gothic candle stand decorated their renewal ceremony. Amber glass decor pieces (a fun nod to Amber's name) and mixed fabric, wood, metal and glass accented the boho-chic reception style. The woodland setting and florals were wildly refined, just like their love.

Let's take a walk in the woods, shall we?

A+J love macramé, so it was only fitting to incorporate it into their vow renewal! After the big day, this pretty piece would make an exquisite addition to any home.

Leslie Ellis crafted that gorgeous messy fishtail braid. Can you say, "Hair goals?"

What was the most memorable moment of your vow renewal? We got married in a church 12 years ago, and the church didn't allow dancing. So we were able to share a dance as the sun was setting behind us... It was wonderful!

In black jeans, leather boots, and a denim shirt, Josh further personalized his look by wearing his great grandfather's vintage fedora.

Cedarwood provided all the elegant florals for the day, which complemented the setting in the woods.

Carrying a treasured vintage camera, Josh sweetly snuck snaps of his bride, honoring their shared passion as wedding photographers.

We're all about the rose gold glasses paired with the fun macramé!

We wanted our vow renewal to just be an extension of us + the home that we have built, so everything you see here is also what we have throughout our home: amber bottles, macramé, antlers, the color palette. We wanted to be as comfortable throughout the day as possible so we just made it feel + look like home.

Amber advises Consider your color palette in your home as you are planning, especially if you want to hang prints in your house from the day. That is mostly why we chose to use the colors that are present in our home: neutrals with pops of green. When we get these images printed & hung on our walls, they will look like added artwork into our home & fit right in with our aesthetic.

Isn't that two-tier cake by Patty Cakes a masterpiece?

Amber was the epitome of a bride who knows and owns her personal style. She donned a simple, delicate Sarah Seven gown from The Dress Theory, contrasted by a leather jacket, booties, and a loose braid for an ethereal meets edgy look.

Wasn't that incredible?! A huge thank you to Julie Paisley for sharing these images, and to Amber + Josh for letting us in on their special vow renewal. We wish you a lifetime of love together!
