Our offbeat wedding at a glance:

We curated every aesthetic choice based on my own kooky vintage pink glam vision I dreamt up. My first thought was of the movie Steel Magnolias: "My colors are blush and bashful." "Her colors are pank and pank."

I am a southern belle with a pink obsession - please see my cell phone case, all my clothes, and my dog's tail; so I knew I wanted a pink wedding. I wanted to look just like Ariel The Little Mermaid after she became a human. With seven hair extensions and a good coat of paint, my vision came to life!

Tell us about the ceremony:

We had a hilarious friend officiate for us, as well as a full bridal party stacked with our closest friends (who happen to also all be comedians, actors, and creatives.)

My vows were centered around me being a major late-bloomer in love, and I referenced my teen years. This helped to form a minor theme for my day which is "teenage dream." My dress is actually not a bridal gown, but a prom dress (it was on the cover of Jovani's Prom 2016 catalog, but this special pink color was only found in a few stores in LA), and my close friend Bonnie McKee sang one of her hit songs, "Teenage Dream," made famous by Katy Perry, in our ceremony. Bonnie wrote the song in 2010, which is the year Adam and I started dating. The song always makes me cry cause it truly captures that once in a lifetime feeling of pure teen love which is what I feel I have with Adam.

There were lots of moments that I envisioned that came together beautifully. I wanted to walk my dog down the aisle on a floral strewn leash. I wanted my favorite photographer in the world, Robyn Von Swank, to shoot the event (she is not a wedding photographer, she's a dope celebrity portrait artist, and I wanted her less cookie-cutter approach to capturing the event). And in the midst of the California heat wave, we managed to have a truly magical 83 degree day. What a blessing.

Tell us about your reception:

We had two semi-big deal breakers that made selecting a venue in Los Angeles more difficult. We had to be able to have an all-vegan menu, and our dog had to be able to attend. This was, after all, her big day, too.

Once we found The 1909 (which I randomly found through Instagram hashtags one night), we knew it was the perfect place. It was romantic and outdoors which were huge checks off my list.

They also allowed us to bring in a caterer of our choice, and Eco Caters was a no-brainer. My pals the Spork Foods sisters created a delicious and special all vegan menu that isn't just tofu with veggies, but hearty, fun, and flavorful dishes that my entire carnivorous Texan family enjoyed. We had portobello cordon bleu and Thai peanut noodles with grilled jackfruit.

Adam loves Tiki culture, so everyone got to take home a pink tiki cup as their escort card and party favor. I scoured Los Angeles for these and went to probably nine different dollar stores until I had enough. It wouldn't have been my wedding if there weren't dollar store items on display.

The Beatles Cover band, The Beatunes, played the reception and they certainly rocked the party. They helped tie in the kooky vintage vibe I was striving for.

What was your most important lesson learned?

The advice I have for other couples is, DO YOU, HONEY. If you have an idea that might seem offbeat, go for it. Have faith in yourself that with some elbow grease and a vision, you can make it happen.

We also both really love the Simpsons. Although we are both comedians, I didn't want the whole day to just be jokes and bits. But we had to throw in some Simpson's accoutrement or it wouldn't have been uniquely us:

Adam wore piggy cufflinks my sister got for him as a gift. They are a replica of the one's Lisa's husband was asked to wear by Homer on the Simpson's Episode "Lisa's wedding."

I also made a Simpsons wedding cake topper for our donuts (we had donuts from Donut Friend in lieu of traditional cake) I made it from a "Homer and Marge Go to Prom" figurine set that I painted to make them wedding-esque and gave them donuts to hold!
