Intimate Bohemian Same Sex Wedding Inspiration

There is a lot to love about today's wedding inspiration shoot. For one, it features two stunning wedding dresses from Heart Aflutter Bridal Boutique, one of which is from Daughters of Simone and a firm favourite of ours. Secondly, it has simple yet effective bohemian styling at its heart with dream catchers, a macrame ceremony arch, Persian rugs and glass bottles - all of which work really well together and give off an eclectic and understated bohemian vibe. Thirdly, one of the brides has a wedding bun and what's not to love about that! Lastly, it is a shoot that is promoting same sex marriage which isn't something you see a lot of in the wedding industry. Shoots featuring couples of the opposite sex are aplenty but same sex shoots are far and few between and that is something that needs to change.

Kirsty Mackenzie, the photographer behind these gorgeous images and the curator of the shoot, talks us through the suppliers involved, their ideas and how it all came together.

Our aim for the shoot was to bring in quirky and unconventional features to an otherwise relaxed, outdoorsy, woodland wedding setting: a cool whimsical shoot for the alternative bride. We also wanted to promote a same sex, quite relaxed and natural shoot.

Our brides wore two beautiful bohemian gowns from the wonderful Heart Aflutter. Our first bride showcased the boho chic dress from designer Daughters of Simone, a romantic long sleeved crochet lace gown with cut out back detail, teamed with full hair, a dark lip and statement floral crown from Bloom by Ellen. Our second bride showcased a slightly softer look with the exquisite Coralie dress by La Poesie, floaty and silky with a dreamy lace back detail. Teamed with romantic rust lip and plaited top knot for that chic twist.

Catherine Short Floral Design worked her magic filling the antlers with a mix of wild flowers and a pop of pink to set them off against the natural wood and gold table runner. She decorated the macramé ceremonial arch with an abundance of luscious fern foliage to add that woodland vibe.

The décor was a mixture of rustic furniture and quirky eclectic boho styling. Bow & Beau did an amazing job of sourcing the props. We had vintage Persian rugs, antlers, a homemade macramé and some awesome different style dream catchers and vintage old bottles. Gold featured throughout the design, with the gold dipped dyed table runner and gold rimmed vintages glasses.

Merrie and Bright created a simple suite with gold antler illustration, modern calligraphy, and a gold patterned envelope liner.

Bake, Rattle & Roll created an awesome, two tier caramel dripping delicious cake.
