Now you guys know that here at FBrides that to say we love a tipi wedding is a major understatement, we LOVE a tipi wedding. The beauty of the outdoors, with the assurance of a shelter should the weather take a turn, that magical under canvas feeling, with all the flexibility and potential you could ever wish for in a venue... Really, tipi weddings ROCK.

So when we met the lovely people at Maka Tipi, of course we wanted to get them on the blog to hear more about their majestic structures...

We're a family run and owned boutique tipi and stretch tent hire company based in London and Kent. We specialise in tipi weddings, corporate brand events, birthdays and special occasions and festivals.

Maka actually comes from the Native American Sioux language and roughly translates to the word Earth. We are passionate about the outdoors and the environment and we believe we've created a business that incorporates many natural elements into our tent designs and we work hard to be as kind on the environment as possible. That's why we chose Maka as our company name.

We use lots of rustic, handmade, classic and vintage elements for our interiors and always look for ways to repurpose objects to fit in with our clients' ideas. We also have a project underway to offset our carbon footprint by planting trees for each event that we do and hope to have this up and running in the near future.

We are able to supply gorgeous interior options to furnish and decorate our tents and offer a number of bespoke services to our clients to really make their events special and magical.

Hmmm... Well, Glastonbury is my favourite, as it has a little of everything and I do have quite a broad and weird taste in music, but I think as the family brood is growing year by year the next one will be something like Camp Bestival! The kids can come with us and go crazy and have an amazing adventure! Also, the theme for 2016 is outer space! Yes, I'm just a big kid.

I've always been a huge outdoor fanatic since an early age, messing about on mountain bikes in the forests of South Wales, playing rugby and then discovering snowboarding and skiing. I was always looking for job roles that would keep me in touch with that big part of my life. It was while working for a large outdoor lifestyle brand that I was introduced to giant hat tipis at a corporate brand event and instantly fell in love with these amazing and beautiful structures and the first seeds of an idea were sewn.

A few years later, after meeting my wife to be, having a child and buying a home, I finally took the plunge and put those ideas into practice. Marrying my love of everything rustic, heritage and recycled with my love of the outdoors, and those magical tipis, I created Maka Tipi.

First and foremost we are a boutique supplier of beautiful tipis and Bedouin stretch tents for weddings, birthdays and special occasions, corporate brand events and festivals.

We're the first company in the whole of the UK to have white giant hat tipis! They're absolutely gorgeous tents and they are perfect for weddings.

We promote ourselves as a boutique supplier, and so we strive to achieve the highest quality finishes and offer something special and something different. Because we supply tipis and Bedouin tents, it's likely that we have a structure that is going to be right for our clients' individual needs. We'll also go that extra mile to make their event memorable and magical. It could be some luxury wood fired hot tubs, a bell tent village or a bespoke entertainment package and lighting to wow their guests. Whatever their imagination has conceived; we'll endeavour to make it happen.

We have a bespoke service to create any props or decorations for our clients if they can't find what they are looking for in our Interiors Boutique, or they have had an idea of their own but can't source it anywhere and are unable to make it themselves.

We can also build and manage a wedding web site for our clients. This is a great way for their guests to find all the information they need for the big day including accommodation, maps, wedding gift lists and links and lots more.

Our main aim is to make the process as hassle free as possible. By getting the small details right early on and communicating with our clients on a regular basis helps to keep life simple.

We cater for all sorts, but mainly for those who want that flexibility to create their own little world and bring their visions to life.

We have a dedicated service for those who want to go for that extra bit of luxury and style with their events and can source items such as wood fired hot tubs.

We can work with a wide range of budgets and help our DIY clients achieve some wonderful and magical festival, boho or vintage inspired weddings.

We have an amazing range of beautiful interior options to decorate and furnish our tents, which we make available to our clients should they wish to hire anything from us. If not, then if they request our help, we can source pieces for them or even create one off bespoke pieces for their special day.

It really depends on the couple. We're simply here to advise and help them put together their dream day, something that they have imagined and wished for, to make long lasting memories for them, their family and their friends.

It really depends on what kind of wedding you want.
