The moment Shannon and Steve bought their home, they knew it was where they would someday marry. "We wanted to make all our guests feel that every need was taken care of from the moment they stepped onto our property," Shannon explains. "Our home is a gathering place, so when it came to our wedding we wanted to continue exuding that same feeling."

The couple's theme was a combination of Gatsby-like generosity and old Hollywood glamour. White, cream and blush-coloured flowers decorated the entire venue, complementing their garden background while white draping and chandeliers were incorporated to give their wedding tent a luxurious feel.

"For dinner, we had every ingredient locally sourced and served at family-style tables," Shannon recalls. "Great B.C. wines accompanied the delicious food."

After dinner the "man lounge" was opened. "Chaise-style furniture flanked a scotch and cigar bar, with a talented and well-versed Scot explaining each offering," Shannon says. "This was a huge hit!"

Guests danced the night away surrounded by lanterns and tea lights in the courtyard and indulged in mini sliders and hand-cut onion rings, which were brought out at midnight. "We then spent our first night as a married couple in the home we bought for ourselves!" Shannon smiles.
