Relaxed BBQ Home Made Pretty Blue Barn Wedding - Whimsical...

WWW readers Jo and Adrian tied the knot on the 7th August 2014 at Hendall in East Sussex. They hoped to create a day with a relaxed atmosphere complete with a BBQ. Yum.

There was a pretty blue colour scheme and some lovely home made touches, including the cake baked by Jo. With gorgeous wild style blooms, bridesmaids in multi-way frocks and blue skies, it really was a very lovely day.

Jo and Adrian of course looked amazing and so very loved up. Enjoy lovelies.

Parkershots, thank you so much for providing the beautiful imagery.

THE PROPOSAL | Dartmouth, Devon - 16th December 2013.

THE VISION | We both liked the idea of a barn venue and completely fell in love with Hendall as soon as we saw it. We wanted a relaxed atmosphere and so opted for a BBQ wedding breakfast which was served at the tables on huge slate platters. This worked brilliantly and the food was incredible (Steak, Chicken and Chorizo skewers, Lamb, Halloumi...)

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Actually very easy once we had settled on a venue, thanks to help from family and friends.

THE VENUE | Hendall Manor Barns, Uckfield

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress - 'Bayeaux' by Opulence. Jewellery - the Bride's own. Shoes from Dune.

FINDING THE DRESS | Found in 'Fross Wedding Collections' Uckfield with the mother of the bride and sister of the bride!

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Next tailoring.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | 'How Long Will I Love You' - Jon Boden, Sam Sweeney & Ben Coleman (ceremony). 'Grow Old With Me' - Tom O'Dell (first dance).

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | The Bride's two sisters, a friend from school and two friends from university. They wore navy multi-way dresses which allowed them each to choose a style most flattering and comfortable for them.

THE FLOWERS | Bouquets and pedestals from 'The Homegrown Flower Company' who also supplied the flowers for the table decorations which the mother of the bride and friends arranged into jam jars wrapped with twine.

THE CAKE | Made by the bride in the days leading up to the wedding. It had four tiers: a traditional fruit cake, lemon and passion fruit sponge, Victoria sponge and maple syrup sponge.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Nick Parker (Parkershots) who was excellent throughout the entire process and who produced amazing photographs that we really will treasure forever.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | Our favours were hazelnut cookies which I (the bride) baked and iced with our initials on. We also put stripy pic'n'mix bags at every place setting to fill up with sweets from our collection of large glass jars.

Our guestbook was very popular with our guests - it was a drop down box from 'The Wedding Tree'. Each guest wrote a message on a wooden heart and then dropped it into a solid oak frame.

Our best man made us a beautiful set of wooden initials which was the centrepiece of the top table.

Another of our favourite touches was the personalised bunting which two of our pupils made for us (both bride and groom are teachers!)

THE HONEYMOON | Riviera Maya, Mexico.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | Sitting at the top table and watching all of our guests enjoying their food!

The first dance when all of our guests joined us on the dance floor.

Champagne and canapés after the ceremony in the brilliant sunshine.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | It sounds very cheesy but make sure you put your own stamp on the wedding - it meant a lot to us that we had handmade decorations and that the bride baked the cake. Beyond that our main priorities were finding an amazing venue and choosing the best possible food that we knew all our guests would enjoy.
