Bridal Blunders: The 7 Worst Beauty Mistakes You're Making This Wedding Season

via

Your wedding day needs to be perfect. And photos are forever. So, we understand the importance of striving for perfection on your big day. Heck, even wedding guests and bridesmaids want to keep their look and style as pristine as possible, and it's not even their day! But, we're all human, and with all the chaos of planning, dress shopping and coordinating, it's easy to forget some of the important stuff. However, human or not, there are certain things you just can't afford to slip up on this day of all days. Don't get caught making these mistakes or you could end up looking a little unprepared!

1. Tanning too close to the wedding. Spray tans ( or even self-tanner) can take a few days to fade out and look natural. The last thing you want to do is go in for a session the day before your wedding and wake up to a spray-tan mishap. Orange glow. Patchy bronzer? No thanks. And let's not even get into what color your formerly white dress will turn.

Instead, schedule your appointment three days in advance, so that the first layer can wash off and there's enough time to fix any surprise streaks.

2. Skipping the hair and makeup trial. You're skipping the trial to save a few bucks because you know exactly what you want, right? While you may like that hairstyle or makeup in a photo (on someone else!), it may not be right for you. At the very least, practice them yourself or have a friend help because you definitely don't want to be disappointed with your look the day of!

Going the DIY route? Here are some tips!

3. Overdosing on shimmer. While dewy skin is in and strobing is all the rage, a day where you'll be photographed (a ton!) is not the right day for intense highlighting. While your skin may look radiant in person, it could come out looking shiny and greasy in photos. Go easy on the shimmer and apply it to your cheekbones, cupid's bow and under your brows - keeping away from your nose and forehead.

4. Being too matchy-matchy. As the bride, you're the main focus! Let your bridal party maintain some form of personality - so if you have an updo, they don't all have to have the same one! The same thing goes for makeup. Eye shadow doesn't need to match the color of the dress, shoes, nails, flowers ... you get it! While you want the look to be cohesive, using complementary colors or neutral shades works better than tiffany blue everything!

5. Trying a new trend or going outside of your comfort zone. We're going to say this once and only once - now is NOT the time to try something new. That new haircut, new color job, no. Especially if you're only weeks or days away from the big event. If something were to go wrong ... well, we warned you! If you're really itching for a change, be sure to book with your trusted stylist at least three months in advance to give yourself time to adjust (and time to fix it just in case!).

Never worn red lipstick or a smoky eye? Again, not the time. Trying a new beauty look in advance is fun, but you want to look like yourself on your big day. And when it comes to trends ( say, frosted lipstick), just remember that you're going to look back at these pictures one day and wonder ... why?

6. Facial too close to the wedding.
A relaxing facial without extractions or pore cleansing is one thing, but anything more aggressive than that and we're going to call it a no-no. Depending on the facial, it could take days (even weeks) for redness to fully subside. Book a soothing facial one-to-two weeks before the wedding day for flawless and bump-free skin.

7. Skimping on the waterproof stuff. Whether you're the bride, bridesmaid, mother-in-law or guest - a long night is a long night. Waterproof makeup will ensure an all day (and all night) application that won't budge when the tears come streamin'! And what's the most important product of all when you're balling your eyes out? Waterproof mascara. Try Maybelline Lash Sensational Black Pearl Waterproof Mascara for full lashes that wont end up on your cheeks!
