Yellow Color Palettes for Weddings

Who doesn't love the instant dose of pep that a yellow color palette brings to a wedding?! From preppy to muted to bold, yellow color schemes are versatile and cheerful. Did you know that when yellow is present, it is the first color our eyes see? Here are 3 ways to use yellow in your own wedding color palette!

Yellow & Navy

This classic preppy combo is perfect for a summer wedding right on the water. Above, check out this dapper ring bearer in a striped tie showing off the wedding program with matching bow. Below, this simple buttercream wedding cake is decorated with paper rosettes in yellow and navy gingham and herringbone patterns.

For a modern spin on this wedding color scheme, try pairing navy with mustard yellow. Great for brides with warm skin tones, mustard yellow has been popping up everywhere lately! Above, this retro-styled bride chose a mustard yellow cardigan as her wedding dress topper. This hatched invitation below features a golden mustard yellow alongside bold navy font. This combination could be used for any season, although, we do love how cozy it feels for fall!

Want to liven it up? Add a third color to mustard and navy such as a petal pink (below) or sky blue.

Yellow and Gray

One of the go-to color palettes for vintage weddings, gray is one of the most popular pairings with yellow. We love this groom in his yellow gingham bow tie and daisy and billy ball boutonniere. Both look smashing against his pale gray suit jacket!

For table decor, use pops of yellow against a grey background, such as the above place setting with tiny billy ball tucked into the ribbon napkin ring. You can also paint reclaimed wood containers a shade of gray or use a gray-toned wood stain to incorporate the shade into your centerpieces and tablescapes (below).

Check out these yummy yellow and gray wedding cakes below! Featuring a sunny yellow, this floral design is ideal for spring (left). With a paler, buttery shade of yellow this polka dot and ruffle cake also features a sweet chevron pattern on the very bottom layer (right).

To use gray alongside yellow flowers in your bouquets and arrangements, try dusty miller and brunia berries. Both have a naturally silver shade that will look beautiful with brighter blooms (below).

Yellow & Rainbow Brights

Yellow is such a festive color-let it shine through with a bright, colorful palette! Above, this invitation suite features yellow with bright pink and green.

Use yellow and rainbow brights to create a simple but showstopping DIY project like this streamer installation (above). Hang yellow paper lanterns or round balloons in the center to highlight your color of choice!

A little bit of yellow can still make a big statement, such as with this lavish wedding bouquet (below) featuring yellow with a wide array of other bright flowers.

You can use a similar technique with your invitations. The yellow in this pattern below sticks out, making a happy announcement even more cheery!
