Want to add some extra "wow" to your reception tables? Consider some of these inspiring ideas for creative wedding place settings. They will help highlight and extend your wedding's theme and color palette through to your tables and centerpieces without much extra effort or expense. Plus, wedding guests usually spend a fair amount of time at their seats, so this is one wedding day detail that is sure to get noticed!

For a rustic or picnic wedding, pack up the essentials into a decorated and tagged Kraft paper bag. Especially if you are serving something like barbeque, make sure to include a few extra napkins. Your guests will thank you!

One of the current trending items in place setting decor is including a solitary flower on each plate. You can use it to bring out your palette, such as emphasizing the white and gold shown above. Or you can use it to set a mood. This pale blush dahlia and coral macaron creates a sophisticated welcome (below, left). If you just want to add a bit of color you can use a broad assortment of bright flowers, or pick one color to focus on, such as with the pink garden roses used below (right).

For garden or vintage weddings, use more subtle floral decor such as a baby's breath wreath (so popular right now) or a sprig of your favorite herb (below) like lavender or rosemary. For you foodies out there, use an herb that will bring out the flavors and aromas of your dinner or wine.

Chargers are those "plates" below your dinner plates. Available in nearly unlimited color and material combinations, you can find exactly the right charger you need for your wedding whether neutral and woven (above and below) or bright and traditional.

Turn a traditional charger modern by painting them in your wedding colors (above). Or stick with classic chargers to add a pop of metallic gold to your table (below).

You can also use your wedding place setting decor to communicate key information, such as thanking guests for attending (above) or letting them know what they are about to enjoy for dinner (below).

While not vital, but certainly fun, a place setting is the perfect place to leave Mad Libs-inspired games for your guests to play while they are waiting for the first course. It also makes a great conversation starter for table companions that might not know each other.

You already have to buy your guests favors, why not use them to decorate your wedding place settings? The fiesta-themed wedding above featured vibrantly-colored Mexican blankets at each chair with a sugar skull tag. The bride and groom for this modern music-themed bash below gave each guest a CD of the couple's favorite tunes in a decorated Kraft paper envelope.
