Morning Peeps and Happy Monday!
I hope you all had a good weekend.
We are taking you to the seaside on this warm Monday morning with Dan and Kayleigh's very cool retro Brighton wedding. Think pops of colour, red and blue stripes, beach side fun, a gorgeous 1950's style wedding dress, a sweetie table, some quirky looking bridesmaids and of course the one and only Vivienne Westwood Melissa shoes. Yes, this gorgeous relaxed and fun day by the sea has it all - oh and did I mention a 'Tremendous Tipi' inside Brighton's Music Hall? Curious? Well you better read on!
We went travelling for 8 weeks around New Zealand and China. Dan proposed in New Zealand on the cliffs at Tapotupotu bay shortly after we did a sky dive over the bay of islands. I had absolutely no idea what Dan was planning and it came as a complete shock!
We met in Brighton and I absolutely love the seaside. Like everyone, we had been to very stuffy formal weddings in the past and wanted everyone to feel relaxed and have a good time.
The wooden benches and fairy lights were provided by the venue. We made the table runners and table cloths. We also made the matching bunting all using fabric purchased from eBay. We made the seating plan using a wooden boat steering wheel we purchased online. We had a sweetie table with lots of retro sweets and in the evening we had a photo booth. We also had beautiful Brighton prints from Shabby Pop Prints on each table. On the tables we also had ribboned jars filled with sand with windmills stood up in them. We also had ribboned jars with paper straws in.
We had a top table of just the two of us which meant we could sit and watch all of our loved ones enjoying the day together.
We set ourselves a strict budget which we regularly reviewed to make sure we didn't overspend. We kept spreadsheets and shopped around on the internet for everything we wanted to buy. We kept costs down by making the majority of the decorations ourselves.
Don't be afraid to delegate. Our friends and family were very keen to help which was brilliant as everyone felt involved in our day.
Lastly, don't put pressure on yourself to deliver anything to anyone. Be able to look back and say that YOU had a great time.
