Okay you guys. This wedding is going to STOP YOU IN YOUR TRACKS. Whoa. An insanely gorgeous venue, combine with one of our FAVORITE wedding planners and stylists ever ever, Jessica Rourke and images by Chris Isham make for an crazy beautiful wedding. We absolutely love all the subtle tones of white, cream, and grey! Whitney and Robert opted for a rustic elegant look and chose an intimate outdoor wedding with a barn reception to celebrate. We know you are going to love their story of the big day!

What made the wedding special and unique?

From the moment we started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted all the details to be uniquely "us." I truly feel like Robert & I were present & shown throughout every single detail of the wedding, from the intimate outdoor wedding, to the reception's rustic elegance- every single detail was very much a story of us & our love.

Tell us about the gown and where/how you found it!

I found my gown at White on Daniel Island. My mother, sister-in-law & I just knew the second I put it on that it was the one! The gown perfectly embodied the vintage feel I wanted at the same time being perfect for the outdoor ceremony. Jodi, the owner of White, was such a fun character to work with throughout the entire process!

What were some touches added to make it personal?

Robert & I both wanted our ceremony to be extremely memorable to everyone involved, so having personal touches incorporated throughout was important to us. From the autumn floral alter arrangement, to the music- our ceremony was very much "us." One of the most special personal touches to both Robert & I was the music we planned for our ceremony (both the processional and the recessional). We both have an extreme love of music, so this portion of the planning was so important to us- it was definitely an aspect that made our ceremony feel overwhelmingly personal. We incorporated some very unique classical pieces into the processional portion of the ceremony (which the string quartet played), & then planned for a member of the band that would be playing at our reception following the ceremony (Groove Collection out of Asheville) to play an instrumental Led Zeppelin piece as I walked down the aisle (Bron-Yr-Aur). This was something that was so special to both of us & we will remember forever! The next musical touch that made the ending of our ceremony so very special was the surprise bagpipe player! Robert's family has Scottish heritage, so I wanted to surprise him with a bagpipe player to play our recessional music as we walked down the aisle following the ceremony. Jessica helped me orchestrate this surprise up until the very moment he began to play- Robert couldn't believe we had planned it without him knowing! It was truly the most special ending to our ceremony :) Some other unique details that we feel were such a huge part of what made our wedding unique were the cocktail hour "signature sips" (Moscow Mules in copper mugs & Westbrook White Thai & IPA- both our personal favorites). Another favorite was the amazing candy bar Jessica created for us...I love candy of all sorts, and Jessica designed a candy-lovers paradise complete with personalized candy bags with our last name & wedding date. So many of our guests were able to enjoy treats from the candy bar for several days following the wedding! If you can't tell, I could go on and on and on....

What was the most memorable part of the day?

From start to finish, our day was so incredibly special, but if we were to choose the most memorable part, it would definitely be two-fold: The first part would be walking down the aisle to an instrumental guitar playing one of our favorite songs and seeing Robert standing in front of a beautiful natural autumn alter arrangement, and the second part would be the end of our reception where we ran out to The Beatles playing "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" & hopped into the flatbed of a vintage truck, where we were showered with sparklers from our dearest friends and family..waving goodbye to everyone & see their smiling faces as we drove away was priceless. Being able to share our special day with each of them it truly something we'll cherish forever!

Tell us how you met and became engaged.

One of our very first dates was dinner and drinks in downtown Charleston, followed by a casual stroll down what turned out to be both of our favorite streets in the city: Chalmers. Keeping this first date in mind, a few years later, Robert planned an over-the-top night filled with drinks and an incredible dinner, followed by a moonlit stroll down Chalmers. Underneath a gas street lantern, he got down on one knee & asked me to spend the rest of my life with him. It was perfection!
