Looking for a simple, but fun dessert for the bridal shower you are hosting? Cupcakes, which surged in popularity several years ago, have been a classic bridal shower dessert for decades. Easy to serve and eat while standing in a group, they make the perfect sweet for a crowd. We've found several excellent cupcake recipes for you to try (and of course, practice makes perfect, so if you need to "test" each and every one, we won't tell).

Above, for the nostalgic bride, bake her a homemade version of the much beloved Hostess cupcake. Its trademark swirl of vanilla frosting on top will make it immediately recognizable. Below, these prosecco-infused cupcakes have been decorated for a winter event with sugared snowflakes, but with such a light and sparkling flavor you could serve them anytime.

Nothing says celebration like confetti cupcakes. A re-creation of a childhood favorite, this made-from-scratch version (above) features baked-in sprinkles and a healthy dollop of vanilla frosting for good measure. Below, you had better start hoarding those hard-to-come-by Thin Mints! These yummy cupcakes with chocolate cake and mint frosting are topped with the precious cookies and will delight your guests.

Of course, chocolate is the classic stand-by for a reason. The bride who favors rich and decadent will love these caramel and chocolate ones above. Below, these peanut butter chocolate cupcakes are decorated with caramel corn. If you decide to use that as a topping, add it right before guests arrive, as it can get stale if left on overnight.

For spring showers, fruit flavored cupcakes are guaranteed to be a hit. Above, if the bride loves carrot cake, these cupcakes are will be a lovely surprise. And you could also serve another cupcake alongside if you think that not everyone is as fond of that treat as she is. Hummingbird cake (a pineapple and nut cake paired with a rich cream cheese frosting) is a Southern tradition that has been catching on throughout the country. With a flavor that is a combination of spice and fruit cake, it's a delicate treat for the spring and summer months (and pairs well with tea).

For a fall shower, use pumpkin as a seasonal flavor. This unfrosted cupcake below is also infused with citrus and topped with a dusting of powdered sugar.

Have guests with dietary restrictions? Make a batch of cupcakes just for them. Above, these cinnamon banana cupcakes are gluten-free. Below, this dark chocolate cake with vanilla and cocoa frostings is vegan (which will also be welcomed by those with lactose intolerance).
