Beautiful Classic Peaches & Cream Wedding

Beautiful Classic Peaches & Cream Wedding

via

WWW readers Holly and Nicholas were married on Friday 13th June 2014 (" Our first date was on a Friday 13th so it's always been a kind of anniversary for us") and held their reception at the stunning Capesthorne Hall in Cheshire.

Their wedding was all peaches and cream. With pretty blooms of Peonies and David Austin Roses, a gorgeous cake and classic stationery.

Holly donned a lace fishtail Benjamin Roberts gown with cathedral lace edged veil and she looked beautiful. The boys teamed traditional tails with bow ties and lawn games provided entertainment for the children.

Thanks this morning goes to the ever brilliant Paul Joseph Photography for sharing their images.

THE PROPOSAL | Nick whisked me away to Siena for a long weekend (it was actually his birthday present from me as his birthday was the day after the night of the proposal.. it's a good job I said yes!)

Siena is a really special place for us as in 2010 we did went on holiday to Italy and spent a few days in Siena in a gorgeous traditional guest house that had a rooftop with the most beautiful views. It was the most romantic place we had (and have) ever been and we always used to talk about how amazing Siena and that rooftop was.

The actual proposal... it was our first full day in Siena and we had spent a chilled out day sightseeing and strolling around the city. After dinner we decided to buy a nice bottle of wine and go and sit on the rooftop balcony. The whole city was lit up and we could see the cathedral it was beautiful. Pretty much as soon as we had sat down and opened the wine Nick said 'What an amazing night! What could make this any better?' I think I may have said 'Only if Monty was here' (our dog). Nick then replied with 'Well how about this instead' and immediately got down on one knee and pulled a ring box from his pocket 'Will you marry me?' he asked with a big smile on his face.

It was so unexpected I think I was in shock and kept asking if he was joking and if the ring was real. It was by the way - it was a gorgeous oval solitaire.

THE VISION | We immediately knew that we wanted to get married at St Mary's and All Saints church which is immediately opposite a tiny little cottage that was our first home together. As every couple does, we wanted our day to be something spectacular and a day that our guests would remember, but also personal and special to us.

One thing that we decided on straight away is that we wanted Monty, our cavalier king Charles spaniel to be a part of the day. As it turned out he was allowed into the church which was amazing. He was just happy with the attention and strokes he got and we loved having him there and included in our pictures.

THE PLANNING PROCESS | As soon as we got back from Italy we started viewing venues. I think we managed to quite a few in just a few weeks and finally settled on Capesthorne Hall which had the most amazing driveway and lake. We knew we didn't want to get married in a hotel or anything like that. It also allowed us to have a more formal wedding breakfast and then a more laid back evening reception with the lake as a backdrop.

THE VENUE | Church service at St Mary's & All Saints in Great Budworth Cheshire. Reception at Capesthorne Hall in Cheshire.

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress - Benjamin Roberts lace, fishtail and strapless. Veil - Cathedral length with bloom and lace edging. Shoes - Jimmy Choo peep toe. Pearl necklace.

FINDING THE DRESS | I'm not sure if any brides found this, but after the first few shops I didn't find dress shopping massively enjoyable. With 'normal' dress shopping I know exactly what colours and shapes suit me and I hardly ever try anything on, preferring to shop online. The dress shop that I went to was in Alderly Edge which was a beautiful shop with great service.

When I eventually spotted a dress that I liked on a blog it was the shop that I called and they luckily had one in stock that I could try on. I ordered my dress in December, mentally getting it out of the way before Christmas. I thought that that was the last I would hear about it until the dress arrived in April and I would go back for fittings.

However in January I received an email out of the blue to inform me that the shop was closing down and going into liquidation. As you can image it was a horrible time and very worrying - would I get my money back and even if I did, was there time to find and order another dress. I ended up getting the dress directly from Benjamin Roberts and had my fittings and alterations done at another shop.

I loved my cathedral length veil, it was so dramatic. My shoes were from Jimmy Choo and Nick bought me a pearl necklace which I was given on the morning of the wedding.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Whitfield & Ward in Wilmslow. The boys went for navy blue tails with waistcoats and bow ties. We didn't set out to get tails but they seemed to fit with the grand venue.

Nick had a bespoke tweed waistcoat and bow tie made with dark blue tweed. His brown shoes were from Paul Smith.

THE READINGS & MUSIC | During the ceremony my mum, Catherine, read an extract from Victor Hugo's Les Miserables.

Hymns - All Things Bright and Beautiful and Jerusalem.

BEAUTIFUL BRIDESMAIDS | I had four adult bridesmaid, my sister Rosie and my best friends who I've known since school - Jenna, Tracey and Kerrie. The dresses were a very pale green and I bought them from Ghost online.

I also had three flower girls, my two nieces Lily and Grace and Nick's sister Isabella. The dresses where cream with gold lace and were from Monsoon.

THE FLOWERS | I had always know that the flowers would be one of the most important elements of day. I wanted something soft and romantic and not too formal. After lots of pinning on Pintrest we went with white hydrangeas for the bridesmaids and my bouquet was made up of peach David Austin roses with pink, white and cream peonies. At the end of the church pews and on the tables we had big bunches of Gypsophila (babies breath). Button holes were lavender and Gypsophila.

THE CAKE | Our amazing (and delicious cake) was designed and created by 'Cakes By Beth'. It consisted of three moist tiers of chocolate orange, lemon drizzle and carrot cake, coated with dreamy buttercream.

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | After our venue was sorted out our next priority was photography as this would provide us with our long tangible reminder of the day. We browsed the internet for a good few weeks and eventually found Paul Joseph Photography.

We arranged to meet up with Paul and Kelly in Manchester and loved them! They were so passionate about what they did and we knew their style was just what we were looking for. It was one of the best choices we could have made, they both made us feel so relaxed on the day and also group photographs were actually fun rather than a chore. We couldn't be happier with your photographs!

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | One of our favourite aspects of the whole planning process was going to tasting sessions with potential caterers. Our favourite by far was 'Vanilla In All Seasons'. Adam visited us at home and took the time to get to know our tastes and created a mouth-watering menu to suit us. I was actually looking forward to the food so much and was adamant that I would stuff my face. However a tight dress and fear of red wine spillages meant that I didn't eat as much as I normally would.

Capesthorne Hall is an amazing house in it's own right and required very little additional decorations from us. Lady Bromley-Davenport (who owns Capesthorne Hall) kindly provided flowers to dress the house and simple white gypsophila was used for centre pieces.
For cards we bought an old restored red post box and for personal touches we included family pictures of both Nick and I.

THE HONEYMOON | We decided that after all the stress in the run up to the wedding we would prefer a nice laid back holiday that our dog Monty could join us on. We went to Cornall and stayed in a gorgeous cottage near to Watergate Bay. Being in the UK we didn't hold our breath for good weather, but just like the actual wedding day, the sun shone and it was glorious all week. We enjoyed long walks along the coastal path and eat at amazing restaurants such as Fifteen and Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant. One highlight was a personal surfing lesson.

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | The bridesmaids, plus my mum and brother (who was giving me away) arriving nearly an hour late at the church because of a swing bridge. My bridesmaid Tracey was in the car with me, keeping my as we calm drove around the block a few times listing to 60s tunes.

Saying our vows and the whole church service was very special to us. It felt like just the two of us and was very emotional and moving.

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | Everyone says it... but keep calm and don't stress yourself out too much. You can't please everyone so don't even try. Just do what makes the two of you happy and tailor the day to what makes you happy.
