I love nothing more than my regular visits to Dubai, enduring day after day of drizzly grey skies I can't wait to jump off that plane into the sunshine, kick back for a few days and soak up some much needed Vitamin D on the beach. But how different must it be to live in the UAE, where instead of back-to-back rain you get endless sunshine, and for 8 months of the year utterly unbearable heat. Seriously, I thought I was a sun-lover until I stepped out in near 50 degrees to cross the street for a bottle of water. Never Again.
With a huge expat community - and a growing wedding industry - it's exciting to see how some of the UAE's top wedding professionals deal with the heat. When Liz from JVR Photography got in touch to share a recent styled shoot, of course they tackled it in true Dubai style. A snow-covered Winter Wonderland in the middle of the desert, complete with husky dog, romantic blooms and actual snow - well, what else?!
I had this winter wonderland shoot in my head for soooo long. After 3 months of planning and sourcing the most amazing vendors in Dubai I was able to pull of something that has not been done in the UAE - to transform this hot desert into a winter wonderland! My goal was to inspire and show brides that anything is possible in Dubai, even a winter wedding.Winter is normally associated with blue and silver, however I wanted to put a romantic feel to it, an essence of spring and young love, hence the touches of gold and blush pink with loads of pretty blooms all around. The models were all handpicked by me and I accompanied them to their dress fittings in order to make sure just the most perfect dresses are chosen. A special thank you goes out to Desert Snow who provided the most realistic "snow" ever and E-walls for creating the winter forest backdrop... Without them I would not have been able to creative such a perfect winter feel in Dubai.Suppliers
