Festival Brides meet asos: the Class of 2015 Occasion Wear Event

via

Afternoon gorgeous gorgeous people!

Man, I hope y'all are ready for some serious fun today, because let me tell you, when Festival Brides met ASOS last week, boy did we have fun!

So, just to fill you in a little, I guess the good people at ASOS are totally aware that more and more, our beautifully alternative brides are looking to less conventional, more affordable and fun brands for their bridesmaid's dresses. So, being the accommodating sort that they are, ASOS are about to release their 2015 occasion wear collection... We're talking all the fun of their existing lines, the same gorgeous (and varied) fabrics and texture, a WHOLE load of luscious embellishment and next level gorgeousness.

So, whether you're a bride-to-be desperately seeking something to please and flatter all of your bridesmaids (always tricky, we've all been there!) or if you're a maid yourself, tasked with finding unusual, modern, but oh-so-pretty dresses to suggest to your bride...

You better prepare yourself, 'cause the #classof2015 event pushed all our buttons, and I'm so certain it'll do the same for you!

Let's go!

SO!

Let's kick things off with the girls.

ASOS have gone for full on embellishment (like the dresses were heavy with it, you know, in a good way!) sheer mesh laden with sequins on beads on sequins. For real, no inch was left untouched.

Embellished collars, whole sleeves, hemlines... You name it, they'd made it sparkle and GOODNESS, the effect was sheer mermaid goddess.

Right?! It's insanely beautiful isn't it.

We saw rails awash with beautifully muted pastels, like candy colours but more chill and ASOS had used unusual embellishments too, hitting up a whole load of pearlescent, holographic-like sequins, sitting slighted raised atop their pieces. These 3D, shimmering textures just oozed mermaid chic, way too pretty for words.

But they didn't stop there, oh no!

ASOS threw in pops of neon coral, 70s inspired, big florals, and the shapes, OH the shapes!

Drop shoulders, ankle length almost culotte-like jumpsuits, crossed, delicate spaghetti straps, oversized keyholes (like, some of the dresses were pretty much backless), sweet crop top and skirt separates as well as the hippie-esq maxis, sweet tea-dress length pieces and a pale pink lightweight sleeveless cotton blazer and trouser suit that I completely fell for...

For. Real. #GIMMIE

Matchy-matchy is the new black girls! And bridesmaids, there's no reason to let your accessories become an after thought, the ASOS pieces are killer!

3D was a major trend. Think embellished heels (I told you, it was all about the embellishment!), clutch purses dowsed in sequins, raised 3D flowers in bright hues, and um hi, there was a PHONE CASE to match every look! Because, you know you're gonna have that phone out selfie-ing all day, so you better make sure it co-ordinates, honey!

And now to the event itself! There was so much decor inspirations to be had, not to mention the hosting!

We were just head over heels for the styling and truly believe it work incredibly for any woodland, tipi or barn style festival wedding.

True party vibes came in the form of huge spherical balloons, decorated with short strips of assorted washi tape to give an easy confetti-filled style, the floor was littered with wide cut gold foil confetti strips, plain walls were adorned with removable polka dot wall transfers and the event hashtag, while coordinating wide satin ribbons were swagged in their masses down a central line in the entrance.

Seriously... I need all the 'love' emojis right now!

Seriously though! It was all in the details: wall-mounted wire grids for you to peg your polaroids to (this was amazing, would be an ace photo booth alternative!), bathroom mirrors scrawled with playful chalk-ink designs, and more diamond shaped piñata-style hangings than a Mexican fiesta!

And of course, the beauty inspo was BEYOND!

Like seriously, some of the new glitter/confetti polishes from Nails Inc and the sweet new Cheeky colours are just everything.

FYI Laura and I couldn't resist Cheeky's Moss-behaving and the honeys at The Illustrated Nail totally aced our manicures!

I went for a bit of negative space with the clear rainbow sparkle nail (bottom left) while Laura hit up some gold glitter atop her Cheeky polish (always a good idea!)

And did I mention I was sipping on champers and nibbling on a white chocolate dipped pretzel at this point?! (Yes, I went in hard, no regrets!)

As for the guys section...

Whelp. Put simply, SWOON.

There were some ridiculously suave pieces going down in mens wear.

The lovely Max Chater (yes, that guy that was on Sunday Brunch) was serving insanely gorgeous Sazeracs, in the midst of a industrial styled room (those lights, I die!), while the incredible Nomad Barber was giving out some seriously sharp cuts.

As well as an inundation of turtle necks beneath blazers (we LOVE) ASOS were all about the details.

Textured and floral skinny ties, tiny pocket details (that T-rex, come on!), rose gold tie clips, zips on brogues... Quirky details were a major hit.

We cannot WAIT to see you gals (and guys) rocking these looks for your big day.

Peace + Love
