Whimsical Made With Love Week Long Wedding Holiday

Whimsical Made With Love Week Long Wedding Holiday

via

WWW readers Matthew and Gina decided to have a week long wedding holiday back in August, how amazing is that?! WWW readers sure do things in their own style :-)

Their wedding was crafted with love, I especially adore the florals and ceremony décor, it looked so very magical.

Gina had a whimsical bridal look, with a pretty flower crown and a stunning dress by Monsoon. While Matthew looked dapper in a blue suit with bow tie and statement glasses. It doesn't get better than that.

Thanks so very much to Rosie Anderson for providing the lovely photographs today.

THE PROPOSAL | After fourteen and a half years together (school sweethearts) we decided it was about time really! Time for a big celebration!

THE VISION | We are not a 'conventional couple' so we didn't yearn for a traditional one day wedding... instead we wanted a wedding week! So we invited close family and friends for the first four days to include the wedding day and the rest of our friends joined us later in the week. We wanted a very relaxed holiday feel where everyone could stay at the venue. We called it our 'wedding holiday!'

THE PLANNING PROCESS | Was a family affair! Lots of hand made items were made over many months and we ended up with reams of bunting! It all came together marvellously with everyone having an assigned role to utilise their particular skills!

THE VENUE | The beautiful Ashbarton Estate in Braunton, Devon.

We chose the venue for several reasons, not only is it a marvellous place with plenty of bedrooms to accommodate everyone, wonderful gardens, a games room, a swimming pool and the most amazing well equipped kitchen... it is also a family venue where the owner's own daughter got married! Set on the top of a hill, looking upon rolling countryside and near a beach! It is also a registered venue, so you can have a holiday and wedding in one!

THE DRESS & ACCESSORIES | Dress: Monsoon Bridal - 'Erynne' dress . Veil: handmade by my wonderfully crafty sister in law. She also incorporated my grandmother's wedding ring into the veil so she was 'with me' on my wedding day which was very touching. Fresh flower headband: Teasels the florist . Rings from Jays in Hatton Gardens, London Shoes (not too high so I could walk, dance and enjoy the day!) from Girls of Elegance.

FINDING THE DRESS | My parents and I went to Monsoon Bridal in Westfield in London. There is a truly amazing wedding shop assistant there called Sunni and she made the wedding dress shopping event very fun for both my parents and I! We had champagne, a beautiful wedding lounge to relax in, the best wedding helper in Sunni, who was amazing and helped me try on many dresses! We left with the perfect dress and happy memories of the day.

GROOM'S ATTIRE | Matthew choose a vibrant blue linen suit for the occasion and his favourite bow tie. He was every bit 'the cats meow' and comfortable too whilst showing off his own style!

THE READINGS & MUSIC | We chose just 4 songs for the wedding event itself over hours of deliberation to get the right tracks for the occasion and us as a couple!

Waiting for the bride: Jupiter from The Planets Suite by Holst Entrance of the bride (and the groom's tears!): You're so cool by Hans Zimmer Signing of the register: The air that I breathe by the Hollies Married!: Wouldn't it be nice by The Beach Boys.

After that we had a great shared wedding album on Spotify that we and our friends added to gradually before the wedding week!

THE FLOWERS | Debbie from Teasels The Florist in Devon was a joy to work with. Teasels came highly recommended by a friend. It was effortless apart from us choosing a few bouquets we liked online and letting Debbie know my favourite flowers! They were stunning, came on time and lasted. The succulent button holes were a particular favourite of the wedding party!

The rest of the beautiful wedding flowers the mums provided and of course the venue itself was abundant in colourful exotic plants and had a wild flower meadow... perfect for some fantastic wedding photos and for whimsical sun drenched walks in the afternoons...

THE CAKE | The bride's mum Sheila worked meticulously on a three tiered, three flavoured wedding cake! It was stunning and delicious! She even learnt how to sugar craft flowers and leaves which fell beautifully down the cakes tiers. A special thanks to her lovely friend Gretta who helped her perfect the cake craft and gave her hours of direction!

YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER | Rosie Anderson - We picked Rosie after looking at her website as we loved her style. She was a real asset to our boutique wedding and all of our family and friends loved having her there to celebrate. We know she enjoyed it too and we are so thrilled with the gorgeous photos we now have as a result.

THE DETAILS & DÉCOR | All of the handmade items made our wedding what it was... a crafty, whimsical, bohemian made-with-love extravaganza! We had bunting with cats, hearts, butterflies and triangles, a beautifully decorated wedding arch, an exquisite silk veil, hand carved candle holders, dried flowers and flower garlands.

THE HONEYMOON | Next year when we have saved! Hopefully to the very relaxed Guadeloupe!

MEMORABLE MOMENTS | All of it!

Matthew the groom, crying with joy throughout the day, Gina's dad's sheer concentration walking her up the aisle which was decorated with brightly coloured dried wild flowers and lavender which scented the room, her dad's speech... words cannot describe!, the lads climbing trees in the afternoon, Gina's mum's face when she was 'ready', Matthew's mum trying to avoid crying!, seeing the beautiful barn dressed for the main event with everyone's creations!, the best man Tom also serving as a 'toast master', Rosie the photographer who made the photos very fun and creative, the sun coming out immediately after the ceremony!, the nostalgic younger years displayed on a projector in the kitchen, awesome nephew's and nieces having fun and claiming it was 'the best wedding ever!' and bouncing on the trampoline with them, the gathering around the fire pit in the evening, Matthew's dad's crazy music choices, toasting marshmallows under a sea of stars : )

ADVICE FOR OTHER COUPLES | It's your day, hopefully you will only do it once! So make it count, make it personal, it's not about what everyone else does, get crafty, get creative, do exactly what you like! Enjoy it all - the planning, the day, the vibe! try not to get mad when your parents try to help more than required (they just love you!), remember it's not about throwing money at a wedding, it's about celebrating with those you care about! All the hand-made items made our wedding. Get a great photographer - they will capture so much more than you can recall and having great photos means you will remember the day forever! On the day, relax and let your wedding come together beautifully with the company of your nearest and dearest!
