Here at MDC, we're always on the lookout for top-of-the-line beauty gurus to share advice on hair, makeup and skin care. Today, we are thrilled to have nail expert Kait Mosh share this runway-inspired nail look!

Street style is what most inspires me, and is where I drew from for this new fall mani. Fashion designer Peter Pilotto's Bek dress from his Fall 2014 collection (pictured above) has such a unique combination of vibrant and sophisticated colors, I knew it would be perfect for a nail art project! Take a look at how I executed this high-fashion mani. It's easier than you think!

Supplies

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Base coat (I used Orly Rubberized base coat)
  • Black nail polish (Try essie nail polish in Licorice)
  • Dotting tool (If you don't have a nail art dotting tool, the tip of a bobby pin will work!)
  • Periwinkle blue nail polish (I used Deborah Lippmann I Know What Boys Like)
  • Bright yellow nail polish like NYX Cosmetics Nail Polish Salon Formula in Banana
  • Melon-colored pink polish like essie California Coral
  • A soft gray polish like Deborah Lippmann Pretty Vacant
  • White nail art polish like Orly Instant Artist Paint in White
  • Quick-drying top coat (I love Seche Vite)

Step 1. Start with clean, manicured nails. Wipe them down with alcohol to remove any residual dirt or oils.

Step 2. Apply one layer of base coat.

Step 3. Paint on one coat of black polish. If needed, add an additional coat. Let it dry for three to five minutes.

Step 4. Take a dotting tool (or bobby pin) and paint five to seven dots of your periwinkle shade on the center strip of your nails -- stay away from the sides! Repeat this with your yellow and pink polishes.

Step 5. Take your dotting tool and gray polish and fill in any empty or bare spaces between the other dots (again, staying in that center portion of the nail). Let the dots dry for five to seven minutes.

Step 6. Paint two horizontal stripes, one near the cuticle and one in the center, with your white nail polish. (Pro tip: Use your black polish to clean up the white polish if you made the line too thick or just need to make straighten it up). Allow three to five minutes for the line to dry.

Step 7. Finish with your top coat and you're good to go!
