"It was always really hard for me to imagine what kind of wedding ceremony I'd want," says Angela. "Even when we were creating ours, it was hard. Luckily, we were able to pull together our love of classic taste, history, family, and fun! We had gelato for our guests directly after the ceremony. What's better than eating an ice cream cone in fancy clothes with good friends?! It was the best."

Your ceremony in three words: Classic, Thoughtful, Fun!

Why did you choose this location for your ceremony? My grandparents immigrated from Poland after World War II. After a long journey and lots of stops, they ended up in Lincoln, Nebraska. They became U.S. citizens in the courtroom where we got married. It's no longer a courtroom, but we wanted to choose something that had a strong sense of history.

How did you go about planning your wedding ceremony? Planning our ceremony was actually really simple! We wanted to have Judge Urbom marry us, as the last sitting judge in that courtroom, so we were open to his ideas. He maintained an amazing reputation throughout his career as a federal judge, and we went into the whole deal with a lot of respect for him. The first time we all met, he handed us a printed copy of what he had already written! It was absolutely perfect - I think we only changed a word or two. It was a perfect mix of simple, true poetry and a realistic view on marriage and life together. Russell and I aren't too sappy or emotional, so this was perfect for us.

What was your favorite thing about your wedding ceremony? The location of our ceremony was probably my favorite part. Besides being a super beautiful space, the feeling was really overwhelming of being in the same place where my grandparents became citizens of this country. The historical significance of it all was really special. Oh, and we had a gold glitter aisle runner that was AMAZING!

Anything else? I play French horn and really wanted that to be a part of our day. Steven Cohen is an amazing French horn player and he worked to create custom arrangements for our ceremony, along with the pianist, Jennifer Novak Haar. The best part? He made an arrangement of Edelweiss for the processional. My maternal grandmother had a marble lipstick holder that played that song and rotated around so you could pick your shade for the day. That was a nod to her.

"We wanted to keep everything very relaxed for our guests, with outstanding food and a comfortable atmosphere. At the beginning of the planning process, Russell and I both said that it would be great to have the whole evening feel like a big dinner party. We totally succeeded with that!"

What was your favorite moment or part of the day? Russell and I arrived at the cocktail hour about 20 minutes after it started. The entire venue was completely packed. You never really know how things are going to work out when you plan any event, but to see so many people smiling, eating, and drinking - that was awesome. We had a huge selection of cheese and bread and the guests loved it. Our amazing event designer suggested we put our jazz band kind of at the back of the venue, and around a corner. This kept people moving through, but also had an awesome effect on the sound - we had the buzz of laughter and conversation, mixed with upbeat jazz. It was perfect!

First dance: "This Magic Moment" by The Drifters. Does it get any better?! Not too slow, not too fast, old school, and awesome. We had a great DJ, Rik Minnick. He played all records and a great mix of everything we love from Johnny Cash to Bjork to Beyonce. People danced the night away!

Please tell us about any special details from your wedding. Our food was definitely the most special part of our celebration. Russell and I met through friends, but didn't really get to know each other well until we made cheese together at Branched Oak Farm, a small organic dairy outside Lincoln. We had a huge spread of their cheeses, and served pork that they raised. Another farm provided the veggies for dinner and an artisan bakery where I worked baked lots of special bread and demi-baguettes for dinner.
