Ripe Romance | Fresh Fruit Wedding Inspiration

Pineapples and pomegranates, blackberries and bananas; fresh fruit is colourful, tasty, inexpensive.

It also makes for chic, unique, and quirky wedding decor.

A couple of weeks back we wrote about how foliage is the new flower. But if leaves are a little too bland for your wedding palate, perhaps fruits can be you sweet flower substitute.

Fruit is the perfect way to incorporate themes into your wedding, without needing hard-to-source-props or expensive materials. Whether you're planning a harvest feast, a tropical bash or a festive gathering, choosing the fruit of the season will tie it all together, whether it's on the table, as a favour, in your bouquet - or on your head.

But there are some pointers...

- Choose long lasting fruits, citrus and pineapples work well as centrepieces as they won't fade over the day.

- Keep the vines, berries look beautiful in blooms and centrepieces, keep them on their stalks for added freshness.

- Offer a bag, If you're giving your guests fresh fruit as a wedding favour, supply punnets or brown bags to carry them.

- Make a statement, dotting large fruits in your bouquets, table garlands and centrepieces will add colour, without the cost of expensive florals.

- Preserve your produce, dip your fruits in gold paint, glitter or sugar to add sparkle or texture and to hide any bruising.

Be inspired by these gorgeous ideas for a fabulous fruit wedding...

So cool, don't you think? I'm especially partial to the peaches and pineapples, but I think pomegranates are such a stylish touch to add colour to a winter wedding, and lemons and limes look so fresh against crisp white hues.
