Happy Friday beautiful brides! It may have been a short week, but we've crammed lots in here at b.loved HQ with a heap of beautiful submissions approved, wedding designs signed off and some exciting decisions made too! We're wrapping up the week with a beautiful ballet-inspired shoot from b.loved fave Victoria Fergusson and Lydia Stamps Photography. Combining Victoria's beautiful sparkles with stunning (stunning!!) dresses from The Secret Dress House, gorgeous hair & makeup and an actual real-life ballerina this one's for all the ballet-loving brides.
The 'Shall We Dance' Collection was inspired by The Ballet, Cabaret and Hollywood musicals, so naturally the shoot was inspired by these things too. All beautiful, glamorous and 'other worldly' which to me go hand in hand with weddings. When you think of ballet your mind instantly fills with images of satin ballet shoes, tulle skirts, lots of soft ivory and delicate pink, hair pulled back in a bun and that amazing eyeliner shape unique to ballet/theatre make-up. Cabaret and Musicals conjure up the sparkly and glamorous side of dance; I wanted to combine the two for a feel of romance and glamour. A neutral colour palette was chosen with the additional hints of soft pink and mint, silver and gold. The intention was to keep everything soft and subtle, the perfect backdrop to the accessories. The accessories are all from the latest 2014 'Shall We Dance' collection. A mix of headdresses, hair combs, and hairpins. The use of silk tulle in some of the designs is a direct influence from ballet and the amazing headdresses worn by the chorus line in Hollywood musicals. The use of sparkly gems and pearls is the enduring ingredient of bridal accessories. I always enjoy making a few pieces with some subtle colour. The Romance headdress combines some very beautiful natural pink freshwater pearls and Swarovski crystals in sand opal, the Coppelia headdress features gorgeous large oval Swarovski gems in Golden Shadow. These soft tones always add a pretty vintage feel. The bridal dresses were chosen for their versatility. I absolutely fell in love with the Voulaire dress by Charlie Brear when I saw it at The Secret Dress House. Another favourite is Elizabeth by Katya Katya Shehurina - I do love a high neckline and sleeves. The Annasul Y gowns had voluminous layered lace and tulle skirts which I knew would lend themselves perfectly to the ballet theme. The hair styling was designed to show off the hair accessories to their best, in up-do's influenced by the ballet; the ballet bun has long been a favourite for wedding hair, a true classic. By contrast soft curls worn loose illustrated a more relaxed alternative, and show how one accessory design can be worn to different effect. It's always important to illustrate the versatility of the accessory designs. The make-up too was in keeping with the themes. Beautifully soft and natural and very flattering; something brides could easily imagine and create for themselves on their wedding day.;)
