What Kitty Did...Had Her Happiest Moment Ever Part Two.

So yesterday we swooned over Kitty's floral choices and admired those gorgeous Bridesmaids gowns (Pearl Lowe for Peacocks FYI). Which Kitty found via some very savvy eBay hunting. You can see part one of Kitty's pretty day here.

Today we have the reception, the couple shots and all of the fun comic book hero details for you...it's all worth waiting for I promise.

Kitty & Al look so happy and in love...to think this girl used to be uncomfortable in front of the camera - I certainly hope that's stopped now Kitty!!

I'll let Kitty talk you through their lovely day, for one last time.

Massive congratulations to Kitty and Al, team RMW wish you both the very best for the future, it's been a pleasure having you.

Kitty The Bride: We knew that the celebrations were about to begin when we reached the end of aisle to find the Stanwell House staff waiting for us with glasses of Champagne. We just about restrained ourselves from jumping up and down with excitement, made a little toast and then hurried off to join our guests outside in the gardens. Having been guilty of forgetting to take confetti to weddings in the past, I decided to craft some cones out of paper doilies and made "back-up confetti" by punching heart-shaped holes into sheets of tissue paper in various shades of pink.

As we stepped outside we were absolutely showered in it and for a moment everyone disappeared into a cloud of pretty pastel colours. There were little hearts and horseshoes in our drinks, in our hair and all over our outfits - I even had confetti inside my shoes! After a bit of mingling our photographer Beki began wrangling everyone up for a few group shots. We'd discussed with her beforehand which groups we wanted, and one thing we were really conscious to avoid was having a large chunk of the day taken up with people getting restless waiting for photos. Beki had a great way to make sure the group shots were fun and a bit spontaneous, and one of my favourite memories of the day is all of our guests yelling "happeeeeeeee" for the camera. My mum's lovely pooches Bella & Bailey also joined in for some family shots, including a hilariously accurate photo of my step dad trying to tell Bailey to sit still!

We originally decided not to have a traditional receiving line, but ended up greeting our guests as they went through to dinner as we were going to be seated last anyway. It also meant that we were guaranteed to speak to all of our guests at least once - I didn't like the thought that someone could be missed in all of the excitement of the day. We opted to have the speeches before dinner (sorry to any of our guests who were hungrily awaiting their lunch!), so that my dad, Al and Ed could enjoy their meals knowing they'd delivered a cracking speech.

Our boys certainly didn't disappoint on that front - all three of them were awesome and enjoyed great applause and lots of laughter from everyone else. We also gave out the gifts to our wedding party during the speeches - for the boys Al had bought and framed comics featuring their superhero alter egos from the year they were born (except Al's dad, who got a postcard, as a Superman comic from 1942 was just a tad over budget!). Our mums got a little handmade card explaining that they'd get a paperweight made from my bouquet after the wedding, and my two lovely bridesmaids Lotty & Amy got a gift box full of goodies including original 90s Polly Pockets, personalised pocket mirrors and Chanel nail polish.

When dinner was served, I scoffed nearly all of it despite being too excited and happy to really be hungry. This is testament to the absolutely scrumptious food that Stanwell House's chef prepared for us. Not only was it served swiftly, but it was presented beautifully and included what is probably the best roast beef sirloin I have ever eaten. Feedback from our guests was universally positive too, and I think we were on to a real winner by letting them choose from a couple of options for each course. At the end of the meal, Al and the boys (including both of our dads) vanished outside with Beki to get some groomsmen photos taken.

As I stayed behind, the resulting photos were a complete surprise to me and when we saw them for the first time I thought they were amazing. If you've been reading our planning journey, you might remember Al hijacking one of my posts to tell you about his plan for injecting a bit of comic book fun into the day by giving each of the boys a superhero altar ego. They each had a tshirt and set of cufflinks to match their character and I love how colourful they all look in the photos.

To complement Al's comic book chic, I surprised him with some custom made wooden cake toppers from Etsy, with the mini Al painted to have a Spiderman tshirt on under his suit! They looked really cool on top of our cake - which I didn't actually see until we went in to dinner. I asked a friend I knew through work to make our cake, as she's trained as a pastry chef and has been making wedding cakes for years. She helped us choose the flavours for the sponge and we decided to each choose our favourite - with luscious lemon drizzle with lemon curd and lemon buttercream for the bottom tier (Al's favourite) and carrot with orange zest cream cheese frosting for the top tier (my ultimate cakey favourite). Sarah did an amazing job with the decoration - even matching the lacy icing design to the lace on my dress! It was so pretty it felt like a shame to cut into it, but after the initial guilt I didn't have a problem eating it as it was so amazingly tasty!

After cake o'clock, Al and I had planned to sneak off for 15 minutes to get some couple photos taken down by Lymington's quayside. I was feeling a little tipsy from all of the wine and Champagne by that point so decided to have a coffee to help pace myself for the evening of partying ahead. I was chuffed to bits when my cousin Jim stepped in and offered to get it for me, but little did I know that he'd added an Irish twist to it - so much for sobering up! Irish coffee drank, off we went down Lymington High Street to the quay.

I loved having just a few minutes out from a very overwhelming day to spend time with Al. Beki basically left us to just walk and talk, with only a few directions of where would be a good place to stand (like in front of Ben Ainslie's Olympic postbox!). I would definitely recommend taking a few minutes out of your day for couple shots, as we're so so happy with the photos. You can get a surprising amount of photos in just 15 minutes and our guests didn't even realise we'd gone!

When we returned to the hotel the first of our evening guests were just arriving and Al's mum and dad were busy setting up our sweet buffet. We collected all sorts of different sizes and shapes of bowls from loads of different places and found pink stripy bags, scoops and tongs all for bargain prices on eBay. Our sweets came from an internet wholesaler and we ordered about 7 or 8 varieties. All of our younger guests were hovering around as the sweets were being put out, but they were just as popular with the adults as the night went on. We decorated the sweet table with framed wedding editions of comics, including a really old Fantastic 4 from 1965 where Mr Fantastic and The Invisible Girl tie the knot. They looked really cool, and worked surprisingly well with all of the lacey jam jars and pink florals.

We also had our very own wedding comic commissioned by a comic book artist, which was another of Al's wedding decor brainwaves. We got a couple of them printed, and used one as an informal guest book for little messages and doodles. Al was drawn as Spiderman and I was Kitty Pride (apparently that's someone from X-Men!). The evening party flew by in a complete whirlwind, with me spending quite a lot of it on the dancefloor! We danced our first dance to a cover of Earth Angel by one of our favourite bands Death Cab For Cutie - a good choice as we'd also referenced Back To The Future (one of our favourite films) in one of our table names.

We didn't practice our first dance at all, so I was a bit nervous about having everyone gathered round to watch us but luckily neither of us fell over or stepped on each other's feet. Our DJ Mark Parker then played tune after tune after epic tune for the rest of the night, and everytime I went to leave the dancefloor I was either dragged back by one of our guests or just couldn't resist dancing. If I'd still had my heels on they would have definitely been discarded, but my customised Converse were comfortable enough to keep me going.

The dancefloor was decorated with a humungous pair of light up letters that were made by the very clever Doris Loves, and they looked absolutely brilliant. They also let us borrow their Hell Boy hand for our comic book themed photo funbooth! The party only let up for a little while when yet more tasty food was served in the form of a Mexican fiesta feast. Seeing as Al and I had our first date in a Mexican restaurant and were off to Mexico the day after on our honeymoon, we thought it was a good choice for our hungry evening guests - plus what could be better than a tower of nachos with homemade chilli and guacamole when you've had a couple of drinks?!

Then it was straight back to more dancing, with Mark yet again getting it spot on with the music. Pretty much all of our friends and family were on the dancefloor throwing shapes, wearing their ties on their heads and generally having an awesome time. My cousin even managed to coax our nan into to dancing to Dizzee Rascal, which is something I never thought I'd witness and will make me giggle for a long time to come.

What an incredible day. I didn't want it to end but at the same time was absolutely exhausted by the end of it. I can honestly say that it was the most emotional, happiest, funniest, loveliest and best day of my life. I think we all imagine what our days will be like as we plan everything and our excitement grows as the day draws nearer, so I think it's important that I now make a bit of a confession. Our day was perfect, and I wouldn't change any of it, but the build up wasn't all fun and fairytale.

About a fortnight before the wedding I found out that I was being made redundant, which was a huge blow. I found it really hard to conform to the image I had in my head of the excited blushing bride-to-be as I worried about our future, the possibility of having to move out of our home and how we'd start our married life together. To say I was stressed is a massive understatement. But do you know what, none of it mattered on the day - in fact it made our wedding vows even more important to me as I knew that Al would be there to help me figure it all out.

Now, six months into married life, when I think about our wedding and look at our photos I don't remember the tears and the worry - I remember what was literally the BEST DAY EVER. And that's what I want for every bride and groom who might have been reading these ramblings. Thank you so much to team Rock My Wedding for letting me be a part of this lovely online community, and thank you to everyone for reading!

Love, Mrs G x
