If you've ever wished (however fleetingly) that you could spice up your locks with a pop of color, we have two words for you: hair chalk. We've admired plenty of dip-dyed, streaked and rainbow-colored hair chalk creations on Pinterest, but always shied away from trying it ourselves - too much effort/clean up required/potential for disaster. But when we heard thatwas releasing their own line of bold and beautiful hair chalks, we were intrigued. We gathered our courage, put on our bravest face and gave them a whirl ... and fell in love after first swipe. These chalks are actually liquid formulas and come with easy-to-use applicators that make applying the color a total breeze. The best part is that they only last 2-10 shampoos, so commitment-phobes needn't fear. In the meantime, here are six different looks we created using the hair chalks, along with our tips on how to recreate them. Who knew colored strands could be so chic?

Green Hair Chalk: Dip Dye

Warning: This look is not for the faint of heart. To create a dip-dye effect, we applied hair chalk to our strands, starting halfway down the hair shaft and concentrating on the ends. The result is messy, natural, bedhead waves with a vibrant wash of color. If your hair isn't naturally wavy, click here to find out how to recreate these waves.

Purple Hair Chalk: Pompadour Pony

Give your pompadour a rock 'n' roll edge with a vibrant streak of. Apply a 2-inch stripe of color starting at the center of your forehead, tease with a comb (here's our step-by-step tutorial on how to tease your hair the right way), then roll and pin in place with a bobby pin. Then, just gather your hair into a pony and finish with a spritz of hairspray to keep everything headbang-proof.

Blue Hair Chalk: Braided Half-Do

Boring braids, begone! Add a blue streak to your hair starting right above your eyebrow and distributing through the ends (we used ). Then, take that section and braid it halfway; pin in place with a bobby pin and flaunt a pretty, feminine look that's perfect for a night out.

Pink Hair Chalk: Low-Key Ponytail

Dress up your relaxed pony with a streak (or two) of pink. Recreate this look by applying hair chalk in a half-inch section of hair, starting right by your ear all the way to your ends. Put your hair in a ponytail, take a small strand from underneath your pony, and wrap it around your elastic. Pin it in place, then add another streak of pink if desired.

Coral Hair Chalk: Messy Bun

Spice up your everyday messy bun with a pop of coral. Take about two inches of hair in the back of your head from the bottom layer and apply a streak of Coral Sunset hair chalk. Repeat with a one-inch section at the top of your hair. Then, just style your messy bun as you normally would - here's our foolproof 3-step method.

Coffee Hair Chalk: Half-Bun

To achieve this edgy, two-toned look, gather the top half of your hair and clip to the top of your head. Distribute a coffee-colored hair chalk like through the bottom third of the unclipped strands. Then, just unclip the top section and twist into a mini bun - pin it in place ( sticky pins will help) and show off that mane!
