Art Pop Modern New York City Wedding In Shades Of Yellow

If you had to choose a color between yellow and yellow... would you choose... yellow? Melanie Curcio & Sandro Cozzi most certainly did and as you breeze through their wonderfully lighthearted day, its easy to see why yellow is so very much their spirit color! Bright, bold & filled with life, Melanie & Sandro embrace life, ensuring each moment is simply everything. Armed with their perfect photography soul mate match in New York City based wedding photographer Cassi Claire, the day unfolded in a most glorious of ways. Gorgeous Melanie embodied a retro throw back bridal style made modern, donning a perfectly fitted Sue Wong gown all while rocking a unique pillbox style fascinator & completely nailing eye glass chic. The men embraced a more slick modern role in tailored gray suits, while Melanie's girls were garden party chic in Watters 2 tone dresses. The lively couple knew that cookie cutter was not for them, instead highlighting details they love such as unique spaces like their beyond amazing rustic industrial art deco reception space & a trolley to get the bridal party around. NYC favorites were high on the list as well, stopping at the ever iconic NY based Shake Shack for a bite, visiting a knotted rope art installation in the park, and of course feeling the NYC love while getting cheered on by park guests as they go! As the perfect end cap to Melanie & Sandro's personalized day, in lieu of a traditional wedding cake, the vibrant couple served their guests hand scoped Italian ices, which is simply perfection on those summer days! Between Melanie & Sandro's joy for life which jumps through every photograph, 50 shades of yellow which emits nonstop happiness & Cassi Claire's life brightening way of capturing it all, I challenge you not to smile all the way through till your cheeks hurt!

Wedding Buzzwords ~ Fun!, Energetic!, Magical! , Us.

Sandro and I are lovers of fun, food and football. He enjoys traveling, and I do when I can afford it! I am a classically trained vocalist that assistant directs a women's choir and teaches music to young children. He is an assistant at a major financial company and is pursuing a degree this year. We met through mutual friends back in 2006 and started dating in 2007. Five years of smiles and laugher later, we were engaged. Eighteen months of wedding prep, and boom, we "locked it down."

From the beginning, my husband, Sandro, and I wanted to present a day that reflected us. I'd like to say that we are happy people who love to have a good time, and that is how we planned it. From choosing a bright color, yellow, to give a visual element of our fun nature, to incorporating non-traditional elements (such as using a trolley for transportation and opting for Italian ices in lieu of wedding cake), we think we nailed it. That being said, we were very specific on what we wanted, and chose vendors that would welcome and execute our vision. We started planning as soon as we got engaged, which lasted 18 months, keeping the stress level low. Curating our own art gallery (light settings and all!) and scooping out 200 individual ice servings might have been time consuming, but was worth all of the work. The best part was that my amazing husband planned each and every detail with me, even being more involved at times. In the end, after an amazing ceremony, a trip to Shake Shack via trolley, to an evening of cocktails, dinner and dancing, most people said that the day was "so fun" and "so you". And that's all Sandro and I needed to hear.

Sandro and I are both NYC locals- I am from Staten Island, and he is from Brooklyn. It was only appropriate for us to be wed in our neighborhood, and besides, who wouldn't want to be married in the best city in the world? An interesting story of our wedding venue choice: The Prince George Ballroom is not only a spectacular venue in the heart of Manhattan, but it is run by Common Ground, a non-profit organization that supports one-occupancy housing. The residents live above the hall. The money spent on the venue goes directly to supporting those individuals. Attached to the ballroom is an art gallery where cocktail hour was held. All of the artwork was created by those residents who participate in an art therapy program. Sandro and I personally chose each piece and hand curated the gallery days before our wedding. It was one of the most touching moments of our planning process.

Bride's Favorite Moment: "The moment the doors of the church opened up. Between my parents interlocking their arms with mine, our amazing friends and family standing happily, the voices of the choir I assistant direct singing "What a Wonderful World", and most of all, the sight of my smiling fiance, I was brought to joyful tears. I always imagined that crying brides were totally cheesy, but I totally fell into the trap. Runners Up: Our vows were very touching, and going up in our chairs while the whole wedding danced the Hora at the very end of the night was awesome."

The Inside Scoop ~ Some interesting things: Sandro's groomsmen and friends "kidnapped" him at 5:00 in the morning and whisked him away to Cartagena, Colombia. I had to pack his suitcase, hide it, and hope I remembered everything. I did not. I packed him too many shoes, no pairs of shorts. He was hot. Also, due to a computer glitch on the online store's part (I won't say who), my wedding dress ended up being free. Actually, I take that back. The person who purchased my dress ended up getting a store credit for it. I surprised Sandro by asking my choir, the Bella Voce Singers of Brooklyn, NY, to be our musicians for the ceremony. They performed and arrangement of "What a Wonderful World" as I walked down the aisle, "I Carry Your Heart" during the ceremony and "Lovely Day" (Bill Withers) as we recessed.
