Gilded Eyes Tutorial

Gilded Eyes Tutorial

We’ve been seeing the metallic lids trend pop up for a while now; on the runway, chunks of gold glitter covered models’ eyes. Gorgeous—yes, but in real life, that much glitter may cause some vision impairment. So we enlisted makeup artist extraordinaire Tara Shakespeare to give the look her Midas touch. For eyes that sparkle like 24 karats, give these gilded lids a try.

1. Apply a shimmery dark brown eye shadow all over the eyelid, concentrating on the crease, and blend.

2. Press metallic shadow onto the center of the lid. Shakespeare used Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments Loose Powder in Breaking Bronze.

3. Add fine gold glitter on top of the metallic pigment and to the center of the lower lash line. Apply it with a dampened brush or use your fingertip.

4. Line the eyes with gold glitter. Shakespeare used loose glitter mixed with MAC Mixing Medium (Vaseline will work too), and then applied the mixture using an eyeliner brush. Or skip the DIY and try Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner in Midnight Cowboy instead.
