DIY Tutorial: Gold Dipped Feathers

DIY Tutorial: Gold Dipped Feathers

via

I am delighted to welcome back Andrea Pittam from Kiss the Frog to the blog today. Andrea is a photographer as well as crafter and has already shown us how to make these cute Paper Birdcages as well as this Bubble Blower, and ever popular bunting and these fabric pumpkins. Today Andrea is showing us how to make these quick and easy Gold dipped feathers with extra glitter. Feathers are Big at the moment! and I am seeing them used a lot in wedding decoration. Used as a backdrop,  hung up from the ceiling, or used to decorate tables, feathers especially gold dipped feathers are popping up everywhere.

STEP 1) Decide how much of the feather you want painted gold and place the masking tape at this point across the feather.

STEP 2) Paint your feathers using the gold paint.  Start from the masking tape painting up the feather to the tip.

STEP 3) While the paint is still wet sprinkle glitter on the feathers.

STEP 4) Gently remove the tape and leave the feathers to dry.

STEP 5) A few suggestions for their use are to join them with cotton thread to make feathered bunting, or arrange in vases or jars, or even attach them to name place cards to co-ordinate with your decorating scheme.
