A Pretty & Emotional Wedding in Edinburgh

A Pretty & Emotional Wedding in Edinburgh

via

Amanda and Mark had a vision of a relaxed celebration for their July wedding. They chose to hold their day at Glencorse House, Edinburgh where they married in the pretty Old Kirk.

Amanda and Mark were so absorbed in one another all day and they had an emotional ceremony. They focused on beautiful natural looking blooms and sweet touches for their decor. Amanda wore pretty Enzoani with the most romantic veil and Mark looked suave in a kilt. Gorgeous.

Thanks so much to Kitchener Photography for sharing their charming photography with us today.

The Proposal… After a short summer trip home from our life in Tokyo before we moved to our new adventures living in Antigua, Mark proposed. It was perfect; Mark took me to see a comedy show in the Edinburgh Festival to help calm the nerves, then onto the Tower restaurant at the Museum. We had the best seat in the house with a stunning view of Edinburgh Castle. The fireworks went off as part of the Fringe and there he was down on one knee! I cried so much I forgot to answer Yes! Two days later we celebrated with friends and family for cocktails before our Antiguan Adventure begun!

The Vision for the Day… We wanted our guests to feel relaxed, taken care of so they can enjoy the celebrations and our venue ticked all of those boxes. At Glencorse House our ceremony took place in the tiny Old Kirk just a stone’s throw from where our reception would take place. We are so lucky to have wonderful friends and family who mingled and really enjoyed each other’s company, all in the one venue.

The Planning Process… We started our wedding planning from Antigua in the Caribbean where we were living at the time. Mark is a full time teacher and I had just applied and been accepted to start my training as an Art & Design Teacher back in Edinburgh. We planned our wedding around our chaotic lives studying, being apart for a while and living back with our parents, who helped us immensely!

Budget… £18,000

The Venue… Glencorse House our wedding reception took place in the beautiful marquee on one of the lawns adjoining Glencorse House. Our drinks reception was relaxed as guests sat on tartan blankets on the lawn, sipping pimms and eating delicious canapés!

The Dress + Accessories… Dress from Kudos Couture – Beautiful Range by Enzoani. Handmade underwear by Lottie Loves Lingerie.  Jewellery – Estella Bartlett. Vintage Hair Comb – Glitzy Secrets.com. Shoes – LK Bennet Cuff – Handmade.

Finding the Dress… After several trips to bridal boutiques it was my mum who suggested the dress of my dreams. At first I was a little reluctant as I didn’t think it was the style I was looking for. However, I was wrong I put it on and felt wonderful. Completely relaxed and surrounded by delicate tulle and lace fabric I knew this dress was for me. Thanks to my mum!

Groom’s Attire… Kiltpin – Isle of Skye Tartan. Mark’s kilt was made to measure for the occasion and now he has our wedding tartan for all our friends’ weddings ahead. The groomsmen wore a slightly different jacket and same tartan from Kiltpin, Falkirk.

The Readings + Music… Wedding March – Portuguese Love Theme – Craig Armstrong. Hymns – Let there be love, Make me a channel of your peace and Love Divine, all loves excelling. Leaving Church – For the love of a Princess – James Horner.

Mark’s speech animation video – Portuguese Love theme & Forest Gump Theme Alan Silvestri. First Dance – Isreal Kamakawiole performed live by Nicole Murray and Ukelele player. Music in Bandstand – Fiona & Will Jazz Piano Duo. Music in Evening – Pin up Nights DJ’s.

Beautiful Bridesmaids… Claire Adamson – Maid of Honour friend, Emma Ralph – Mark’s Sister, Laura Melrose – Amanda’s cousin, Lauren Baird – Amanda’s friend. Dresses designed by Amanda & Lucy Kershaw and manufactured by Oasis.

The Flowers… I Heart Flowers, Glasgow  – Sophie.

The Cake… The Cake Partnership – Emma & Lilian – Mother daughter duo.

Your Photographer… Kitchener Photography – Joanna & Dylan.

The Details + Decor… Handmade by Amanda – order of service, bunting, card suitcase, vintage mail table, floral decor around cake. Place cards, menu’s, confetti cones.

The Honeymoon… 3 nights away to the Honeymooners Hideout outside Dundee!! Then a relaxing 2 week trip to Marbella, Spain visiting Andalucian spots such as Rhonda, Mijas and Seville.

Memorable Moments… Being completely surprised by Mark’s video and animation! He has put such hard work into something which reduced the whole audience to tears!! So emotional. Saying I do and not being able to stop smiling for weeks after! Spending the best day of our lives with the most amazing family and friends! The hilarious photo booth the older relatives loved!

Advice for Other Couples… Relax and enjoy every moment of the day. We took this advice and savoured every moment of the best day of our lives. Don’t worry too much about the little details…everything will be fine on the day!
