Fall Beauty Trend: Punk Perfect

This is the year of punk! This summer, all eyes were on the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s exhibition “Punk: Chaos to Couture” and the trend continues. Cue the mohawks, spikes, studs, safety pins, chains, tartans, leather and vinyl.

Punk Queen Dame Vivienne Westwood reflects on her latest collection: “a synthesis of all the things we were interested in--rebellion. (It was an) Evolution from a culmination of the hippies look, 50’s Teddy boys’ fashions, and 50’s pinup magazines, then it morphed into rockers and Hell’s Angels...rubber wear and bondage inspired clothes.”  And ever since the 70’s, the punk theme has been repeatedly revived. References to punk music icons like the Sexpistols, Sid Vicious, John Lydon, and Joe Stummer pop up time and time again.

And why not? There’s a rebel in all of us. This season, artistic streaks on the eyes are key – a bold declaration of creativity and freedom! Have fun with green, pink, black or white lines. Add strong lips in a deep red-purple, and you’re all set for a night on the town. Style-wise, look to rocker Siouxsie Sioux with her inky, soulful eye make-up, or Joan Jett with her dark-rimmed eyes and spiky hair. For daytime, go lighter on the eyeliner, or try a soft, dark smoky eye. Options abound, but in the true spirit of punk, it’s all about creating your own impact.

Would you rock a look like this runway punk princess? Here's how you can get the look.
