Sarah and Pauls Wedding in Protaras, Cyprus

Sarah and Pauls Wedding in Protaras, Cyprus

After featuring this perfect wedding in Cyprus only a few weeks ago, we were beyond delighted to receive another submission for a destination wedding that took place in the same idyllic island in the Mediterranean sea! Sarah and Paul planned this sun filled day with a lot of love and heart, taking great care to entertain family and friends who had taken extra time off to holiday alongside them. Sarah was an absolute beauty on her wedding day and looked stunning in a vintage dress with the most beautiful detail on the back!

Sarah and Paul are from the same hometown so they knew each other through mutual friends and after seven years later, Paul made her the sweetest of proposals.

“We had been together for 7 years and knew that marriage was definitely on the cards after our son was born. I had already picked out the ring but Paul surprised me with a proposal at home with the children. He disappeared with the children first thing on a Sunday morning so I should have known then that something was up! I was shouted from downstairs to find a trail of lollipops going outside, with “WILL YOU” spelt out in sweets on the floor, to go outside to find Paul, Mataya (my step daughter) & Riley (our son) with signs saying “MARRY ME??” Paul was down on one knee with my engagement ring, it was perfect!”

“We decided to have our wedding in Cyprus as my sister has lived there for the last 8 years and we have been holidaying there for some time. We both have large families and after thinking about it for a while, we decided that a wedding abroad would enable us to have all the family and friends there who really want to be there. And boy did we have just that.  All of 91 guests attended our destination wedding!”

We had visited the Grecian Park Hotel a couple of times and both said that if we were ever to get married over in Cyprus, it would have to be there as the view was incredible. My sister planned the reception and The Grecian Park wedding co-ordinator arranged all the legalities which was a great help. We wanted to go with a vintage theme but one that was still quite classy with a black, green and cream theme. My dress was very vintage so I took the pearl detailing and injected that into the decor of the stationary and reception.

“Managing the total number of guests was the biggest challenge, plus the nature of a lot of our friends work made it difficult for confirming numbers till the last minute. Other than to marrying Paul, I think the best decision we made was to have our wedding abroad, although it was very warm under my dress in the heat. We got to enjoy our wedding for almost a full week! Every other bride I have ever spoke to has said how quickly their day went, Having our Pre-Wedding Drinks & a joint Hen/Stag Party over there in the days running up to the wedding just made our wedding last so much longer! Everyone of our guests said they had never been to a wedding like it, the Venue was memorable in itself & the Reception just topped the whole day!”

“I think for myself and Paul, our most memorably moment was our arrival at our reception. Following our wedding photographing session, we were taken to the reception in our vintage wedding car. My sister had kept everyone out of the restaurant on the street outside ready for our arrival. We pulled up with everyone cheering an throwing confetti and the music blaring! Traffic stopped and strangers were out on the street taking photos! It was incredible – we definitely felt the part!”

“Our only regret was that that we didn’t stay for longer! Another week after the wedding would have just been enough time, we were there awhile before and only 4 days after which just seemed to fly by! If any one is thinking of getting married in Cyprus/Protaras and thinking of a reception venue, Mojito Bar & Grill in Pernera is one of the best restaurants in the area. Staff are incredible and Emma will go above and beyond to make your wedding day the most amazing day that you will remember, nothing is too much & without being biased my wedding day was truly unforgettable and it was all down to the hard work, creativity & effort that all at Mojito put in.”

Loving that colour scheme too with emerald green being the colour of the year! A very special thank you to todays wonderful photographer, Kerry Diamond. Be sure to check out her website! Lastly, a big hurrah and congratulations has to go to the beautiful couple! We have no doubt that their wedding in Protaras, Cyprus will inspire a lot of our readers!
