Hi lovelies! This morning I’m handing over to b.team beauty expert Ana.  Here she is with some natural make-up ideas and very pretty pictures!

***

In my time I have lost count of the brides or makeover clients who say “I never wear much in the way of make-up!” or “I want a natural looking make-up done as I don’t like to feel like my skin can’t breathe or that I don’t feel like me”

I get on occasion brides in my chair, who are clearly nervous due to bad experiences – with a department store makeover she had done say 8 years previous…sound familiar? I am not criticising department store make-up artists, as we are hired for our skills!!! Yes, I am one such artist as I work in a well regarded London department store myself a few days a month as an Event Artist, and see some great artistry done daily. If however, you are not into too much make-up it doesn’t make sense to visit say a counter where the MUA is sporting full on party makeup without expecting the works on you too!  Choosing the right make-up artist is as key as your photographer, cake maker or dress designer – hence the importance of a bridal trial.

I consult with my brides in depth, which is key with any client but most important with those nervous of the application. We discuss her style, what her likes and dislikes are and go through pictures on mood boards that she would like to give a try. I then give my bride a mirror to hold and tell her she is now in control and take her through each step of the application making sure she is happy. This partnership works in enabling us to achieve the desired look for the her big day by defining, shaping, contouring in a discreet way to enhance what is there naturally.

To illustrate my point, I’m going to share the story of one of my recent brides.  Alice was a very chilled out bride with her own sense of style.  Not conforming to tradition, she wore a stunning gold sequinned and cream gown designed with pockets, the style of dress reflected her personality perfectly. This was a bride who wanted to shine on her big day but be comfortable too!!! A gorgeous bride, but not at all princess in style, she wanting her hair and make-up to look casually done to reflect her personality and very cool London wedding. I thought it important then to get her skin looking beautiful with the lightest of airbrush applications enough that it evened out her skin tone. It was easy to give Alice definition by filling in brows and enhancing her gorgeous blue eyes with mascara and false lashes and playing down the eyeshadows by using soft creams and golds with a hint of a contour just above the crease of the eye to add depth . I then used a soft golden bronzer to add warmth and definition with no hard contour lines and kept the lips and cheeks to a soft coral in keeping with the gorgeous colours in her bouquet.

A barely there make-up look was achieved, which gave Alice a polished yet natural look for her wedding.  It also means that when she looked back at her wedding photography she was happy with what she saw, herself!

Here is what Alice had to say about her wedding day make-up ~

THANK YOU: I was SO happy with it on the day – and think it looks pretty great in the photos too

I am super lucky to Love what I do but also that I have such wonderful brides each one of which are unique. I hope this goes some way to putting some fears at bay regarding bridal make-up see you back here soon make-up lovers! Ana x
