Cultural San Antonio Garden Wedding: Maya + Craig

Cultural San Antonio Garden Wedding: Maya + Craig

via

Maya + Craig are both creatives by trade – he works in the music industry + she in the arts, so their inspired backgrounds played a major part in the look + feel of their colorful, handmade South Texas garden wedding! They wanted their day to be a representation of both of their personalities, where they come from, and who they are becoming in the next chapter of their lives together. Here’s more from Maya:

It was important to make the longstanding traditions of both our cultures into a contemporary celebration and tradition that we are starting together as a family. Our chuppah was created out of handmade doilies from both of our great-grandmothers and grandmothers which my mom crocheted into a beautiful piece of art. We were so lucky to have our brother-in-law, Akiva, officiate the ceremony; he made it so personal and was able to include traditions from both our cultures and really celebrate our love for each other.

The documentation of the day was also really important to Maya + Craig; they knew we wanted a visual story to tell after the day had passed. And Julia of Our Labor of Love did just that in these beautiful photographs! Congratulations, Maya + Craig — we wish you the best!

How cool are Craig’s custom black-leather Converse?!

Processional: Wedding party: Heartbeats – Jose Gonzalez; Bride: Sea of Love – Cat Power

Recessional: You Make My Dreams Come True – Hall and Oates

First Dance: Harvest Moon – Neil Young

I’m totally in love with Maya + Craig’s amazing escort card display. So colorful + fun!

There were so so many, but the most memorable moment for me was when Craig surprised me with an a cappella version of "In the Still of the Night" with his groomsmen and dad as back up singers. They were amazing and it was so romantic!

Take a moment to step back during the craze of planning to check in with yourself and make sure you're sticking to what your heart says. We had a few moments when our ideas were getting lost in the planning, and we had to check-in with each other to make sure the day was going to be true to us.
